Sad puppy My yorkie puppy seems very sad. She is not the same, she eats, drinks water. She is very playfull and loves bully sticks, but now she does not even look at them. To get her to play is a team job and she gets distracted so easy and does not want to play anymore. She spends 12 hours a day by herself since we have to work. She is 5 months old. We have had her for 2 months now and she was very active until 3 days ago. Always happy, always wanted to play, running around the house. Any thoughts will be appreciated. |
Get the baby to the vet ASAP and be sure she's not ill or had a spider bite or any of the things that can go wrong with a puppy. May be nothing but a vet check is the place to start. |
I agree you should get her to a vet. When a playful active puppy does not act the same there might be something wrong with her. Maybe not but you should find out ASAP. |
Thank you so much for your help! I will contact my vet now! |
Poor baby. Hope it's just the "blahs" or an upset tummy, contipation or something simple. A vet once told me that G-I problems are the #1 reason his patients come to see him. My first Yorkie went down one Sunday afternoon and would not stand or walk at all. I panicked. I called the vet, met him at the clinic, put Scotty down on the exam table and he started to jump up on the vet and kiss him! Vet examined, x-rayed, did tests and said it was GAS! I'm telling you that dog acted paralyzed and would not even stand up on his feet at home and he had GAS!!!! So, maybe it is not much wrong but let the vet check it all out. |

I pray your little one.is alright. |
No, it IS funny but that is a Yorkie for you! |
I wonder if your dog is going to be going into heat soon? Furgie went into heat 2 days before she was scheduled to get fixed....it was a very off week. I work 12 hour days, 3 days a week. I bring her to doggy day care when I work...she LOVES it!!! they have a special area for small dogs. She used to be all crazy when i would get home from work, almost angry....now, she is all worn out from playing all day! I highly recommend it! |
I hope your little one is all right too. 12 hours a day is a long time for a puppy to be all alone; she might be lonely and depressed. If she checks out ok - you might consider checking into a dog walker mid day or something like that. |
Thank you for the responses. We took her to the Vet last night. They ran a panel on her and all of her vitals were normal. The vet mentioned that she might be going into her first heat cycle. We are calling her breeder this morning to ask when her females typically start their cycle. Again, thank you for all your support. Any info on what to expect with a female Yorkie in her heat cycle is appreciated. All of our previous dogs have been male and we're not sure what to look for. |
awwe poor baby! i really do hope its nothing major! & please update us |
