music for dogs sorry everyone! i feel like i am taking over the discussion board here! sorry :P I tried searching but came with nothing. Anyone do music therapy with their dogs? I heard there are specific cds made for dogs to calm them down. I think it'll be great to deal with travelling & seperation anxiety if this does work. I actually listened to some of the classical ones from itunes and they're classical music with underlying soothing sounds like water fall & etc. I remember mickey was curious about the sounds coming out of my instruments but didnt like certain instruments (he'd bark as i'd practice) |
I would be interested to know what you learn. Mine used to howl, when I played the clarinet and made it squeak on purpose. We made a great musical duet!:D |

though there is a cute yorkie called tigger on youtube... now he's a talented doggy musician. not only does he play the piano, he sings too! |
It's been proven that harp music can actually calm any animal, including wild wolves. I've always played these for my girls. Celtic Harp Music by Anne Roos Pets Enjoy Healing Power of Music | LiveScience |

I don't know of anything proven, but when I work in the office I turn those Solitudes CD's (classical mixed with nature) and sometimes leave them on for Harley, he often curls up and goes to sleep with them on. |
there are many studies that's been done apparently according to google :P i think i'm going to go and buy an itunes card and buy an album. i did listen to a few samples of these specially made music for dogs. they all have underlying sounds that are very odd to my ear. i would say very 20-21st century classical music. apparently the unusality of the underlying music soothes the dogs but are strange to our ears. |
