New gold Yorkie for mother in law family-suggestions My husband just placed a deposit on a gold Yorkie for his mother for Mothers Day. She was born in Feb but the breeder won't let her go until 12 weeks so we will get to watch her grow each week! This is a total surprise so we were thinking of taking the breeders weekly pictures and making a baby photo album. Any suggestions for that to look super cute would be greatly appreciated. Having a hard time figuring which colors would be suitable for the album / holiday. (mothers day) :) |
Awww how sweet!! I'm sure its an exciting time, I remember waiting to go pick my little one up. That's great the breeder insists on keeping her til 12 weeks, I wish more breeders would do that! As for colors, since its Mother's Day and the puppy is a girl, you could use pink colors. Pink/brown, pink/gold, light pink/dark pink...there are so many combinations you could choose, best of luck and congratulations! :) |
First off- you say this is a total surprise- is the breeder aware of this? Most breeders do not allow people to buy pets for other people as a surprise. Yorkies are a TON of work and are not something that should be forced on to someone. Is your mother going to be ready to make the lifestyle changes necessary to own one of these dogs? Can she afford the bills/ or want to pay the bills that come with having one of these dogs? Also- since this dog is a surprise, I think you should buy the necessary items she will need to get started with this dog- a crate or expen, a blanket, some toys, dishes, a bag of food, a leash and harness, dog tags, etc. Maybe you can make them into a nice basket and then you can put the photos in an album on top. |

I would make a scrapbook, with pink and purples. I would also make sure her house is ready for the puppy. Like said above make sure you have all the supplies. Good luck! |
Adie's breeder made a little baby book for me and gave it to me when I picked up Adie. It was a total surprise and I loved it. The only thing missing was a paw print so I would suggest that!!!! She had the photo's labeled: First meal - Adie nursing First Steps My eyes are open First Drink of water First Taste of real food First toy "Let me Out of Here" Etc. |

I had always wished I had a 'baby book' for my first Yorkie. Once we decided to breed, I made the decision that all puppy buyers would get a file folder of pictures (in addition to the vet records, pedigrees, and "important" stuff!)....so the folder has the parents, grandparents in-utero x-ray pics, at each week, first eating, etc, etc. So far no one's been that impressed (go figure, I'd been thrilled). Next time I'll try to do it up more like an actual baby book. |

No, sorry I don't ship. Our last pup just went to someone (from YT) to Seattle...but they had to come and get him. But since my daughter lives in Seattle, if my scheduled had allowed I would bring a pup that far for someone (we live on the eastern side of Washington)...I like road trips...but not as far as Illinois!! lol I think the only way I'd sell a pup to someone far away is if they were a member of YT (& I could tell by their long standing multiple posts they were truly caring pet parents - there's no mistaking some posters' passions for their dogs) and they arranged to come and get it and it could fly in cabin with them...unless they really liked the idea of a (long) road trip!! |
