The EVIL clippers My brave girl is terrified of the clippers. I am trying to get her used to them but what an uphill battle. She doesn't mind the sound, but the vibration on her ears has sent her scrambling over my shoulder. Think this may take two sets of hands...one to give treats while the other clips. She isn't afraid of much but this has her freaked big time. Just want to see if her ears will stand without the extra hair. I have trimmed with scissors and gotten pretty straight but we may have to resort to a razor after our shower tomorrow morning. |
my yorkie binky was terrified of clippers i did manage to find a wahl clipper at meijer here in ohio which is similar to super walmart. I will include a link of it ..its very tiny and a tad quieter and smaller so you can handle it and still see our tiny furbabies legs etc. http://www.wahlanimalstore.com/produ...WAH%209961-900 another thing that works is that shaver they actually had them at dollar tree in the makeup section I'll include a link from ebay ..this one is very quiet and my yorkie binky didn't mind this one Finishing Touch Mini Hair Remover-Seen On TV $6 BLOWOUT - eBay (item 140382643521 end time Mar-15-11 03:21:53 PDT) hope this helps |
Thanks!! Just order the finishing touch. Her ears already look perky after a scissor trim. If they really do stand I may not recognize her! |
I really like that finishing touch one myself. I noticed my little rescue savannah had some knicks on her ears from where the lady who had her went to close to the edge with the clippers no wonder she got so scared she vomitted the first time i gave her a bath. I'm giving her time to adjust but will be using the finishing touch one on her ears as well its way less stressful. My yorkie binky would try to bite the clippers I can't see Savannah trying that but it sure took stress off of me they never nicked my binky. she still hated the buzz but its not nearly as loud and since you can hold it like a pencil you can even use it while they are on your lap. make sure you check dollar tree as well if you have one near you. I know sometimes when they are puppies and teething their ears will flop. I know some tape them though I've never had to do it I did ask how to get the tape off without hurting them...duh water why didn't I already know that I thought when someone answered it for me..lol try youtube for that type in taping yorkies ears and my guess you'll get step by step instructions you are not alone though my binky also hated scissors |
Tibbe would shy away from the clippers so I went to the mustache clipper with a tiny buzz and he no longer minds his ears, etc., being clipped. He hates his toenails being clipped with the guillotine or other old-fashioned nail clippers so I had to go to the Perfect Paws sander tyype toenail apparatus. It's way easier on his nerves and mine than using the old fashioned nail clipper. Do other Yorkie owners have trouble with their Yorkies hating toenail clipping or am I just a Wus with a capital "W"? |

me either with my binky I'd pay a mobile grooming lady in bows to do her nails or my daughters friend would do it for me. Savannah's are ok at the moment but I'm wondering if she'll let me use those fancy toenail cutters i bought that light up and let you know its safe to clip. we will find out when she needs them done which won't be for a while yet...lol My girls tell me I'm a wuss and let the dog set the rules that is why I have issues. Finally got her ears shaved. Wrapped her up in my robe so she couldn't wiggle and get nicked. Tried soothing talk to her but she acted worse. Said a big "quiet" and she laid there and let me do her ears. They are not perfect but this was a big first start. Next time should be easier for both of us. :aimeeyork |
