Taping of ears??? I just spoke to my dog breeder earlier today and she stated that she will be taping all the puppies ears to stand. And that they should be taped for about 2 weeks. I pick up Rambo on Friday, so he will have his ears taped coming home. Is this necessary? |
Well taping helps keep the ears up while the puppy goes through teething. Some require taping some don't. breeders will tape to reinforce the ears. It's up to your really. If you want to keep them reinforced email me and I'll share with you a better way than taping. Hugs, Wini |
Why? So what if your dog doesn't look like a show dog. Personally I like ears that flop down (more like a doggy than a wolf!). It mostly depends on genetics, the weight of the ear flaps. I too worried so much about that when rexi was younger. No, I look back in retrospect and see how unimportant my worries were. I would spend the time to train my dog to use a litter box. Imagine how much easier it is on them when they don't have to hold back constantly in stress while they await your return Rexi's Site: http://rexibaby.com My Site http://www.darish.com |
We tried taping Loki's ears and gave up. His ears are just too heavy (LOTS of hair) and the tape kept coming off or got too sticky and wouldn't come off. It wasn't worth it and he has floppy ears. I'm SO glad, because he is simply adorable. |
it only matters if you want a floppy eared yorkie like mine or you want one with ears up. breed standard is ears up.i wish both of my dogs ears were up but i didnt know about the taping of ears when i first purchased them. i wish my breeder did the same but i still love my floppy eared yorkies. i take it the earlier you tape them the better outcome you will have later. |
It is up to you to choose because you'll live with the little one . |
