Why does she Pee SO MUCH Hope, my little rescue, pees A LOT. Is that normal?? She will be getting a bloodwork done before her spay and would that let me know if there's something wrong? She was also weezing a little so I brought her to the vet today and the doctor said nothing about it even though I mentioned it...she got her shots UTD and she peed and pooped on the vet tech! Has that happen to anyone before? It was my first time seeing this happen because this never happened to my babies... |
How much is a lot? How old is she? It isn't normal and bloodwork could be clean. A urinalysis needs to be done before the spay (shouldn't put her under anesthesia for an elective surgery if there is an infection present). |

She should be seen by your vet asap.... |
Glad to see you got some of the vet work needed for this rescue. What did the vet say about her eye/face skin infection/hair loss? Did they take a culture to test it? I was curious to find out what it was. How has the fund-raising for all her medical needs going? |
You need to contain her away from your other dogs for a full day and measure exactly how much water she drinks- this will be one of the first things the vet wants to know. Chloe also has very dilute urine and pees a ton. There are so many things it could be, we checked for kidney disease, underdeveloped kidneys, diabetes insipidus (water diabetes), regular diabetes, etc, etc. It was a LONG process. In the end the specialist decided it was just that she drank too much due to her MVD probably and the increased water has to go somewhere. But I would start with seeing exactly how much she drinks and have a urine culture done. Those are very basic, non invasive steps. |
It could be very possible she has a UTI (urinary tract infection). The vet will have to get a urine sample in order to determine if this is the case. |

The fund-raising is going okay, my classmates have been donating to her cause. I have raised nearly 30% of the medical cost :) |

Request a BUN and Creatinine test, immediately. She may have problems with her kidneys. Sheila |

I don't care how long I live, I will never understand, how anyone can allow a dog to suffer. And the Devil has a nice place in Hell just waiting for them. |

Tell your Vet that she drinks a lot of water, and her urine is not yellow. Tell him that you want a BUN and Creatinine. When he gets the results, depending on them, he will ask for a sample of urine to confirm that she is not concentrating her urine and he will check for protein in her urine. I am not trying to scare you, but my Sydney had routine lab work done in Oct. and the BUN ad Creatine came back elevated, so my Vet asked for the samplel of urine, and she is in chronic renal failure. I am not saying that is what is wrong with your new baby, but it is important to check for it. Because with an early change in diet, she can live a good quality of life for years. The tests aren't expensive, and considering she is a Rescue, it's a good thing to check out. Sheila |
