my aunt saved a pup. So, I know this isnt about a yorkie but I thought I would share the story. Yesterday my Aunt, Uncle & cousins(6years & 16 months) adopted/rescued an 8 pound black female Shih Tzu & they named her Disney(we are a disney/mickey mouse family) They were told by the family that they got her from that they had found her on the side of the highway & that she was 1. the people were asking $100 for her even though they only had found her, they ended up paying $40. She has very long matted hair & is scared of alot, like nervous. Which is understandable especially if the highway story is true, we will never know for sure. She has taken to Zachary my 6 year old cousin, which I bet he loves, he is so happy to have her & cried because he was so happy when they told him she was coming home with them. Here comes the upsetting part...they took Disney to the vet today & they found out that she is 3 actually(which is fine) & that she has a terrible bacterial infection, so bad that it feels like there is leaves between her skin & her ribs, but they will give her anti-biotics & she should make it & be okay :) which is great. this is the worst part, they think the poor baby was beaten :( This broke my heart, the poor baby. I cant understand why or how someone could ever hurt or lay a harmful hand on any animal, they are defenseless & they count on us & thats how you treat them ? NOT OKAY AT ALL. It makes me sick, but she is doing a little better & a little less nervous, but still very nervous, which is normal to be in a total different place with people you dont know. But she hasnt had 1 accident in their house & actually asked to go outside :) I am praying the baby gets used to them & can live a happy life. I am so happy that they helped her & I know she will be given a TON of love, they are going to give her a happy & amazing life which she most likely never had :( |
Hate that this little one has been through so much in her short life. I don't know what could possess someone to be so hateful to a poor defenseless animal. It's great that she has found a family that will take care of her and love her like she deserves. Hope you will be able to share pictures later :) |
What wonderful people your aunt and uncle are to take in this suffering dog. My daughter rescued a min-pin that we are certain had been whipped with a coat hanger or wire as she has scars on her head and neck. She also has bb's still in her from being shot. Lexi has been with my daughter for about 6 years now and has some medical issues, but never for a minute has my daughter not been happy that she rescued Lexi as she has brought her so much joy. I will pray that that your aunt and uncle have the patience and understanding to be able to give Disney the time to adjust to her new family as this, along with a loving family is what she needs more than anything. |
trust me they will give all the time & love that she needs. :) I just find it upsetting that the poor baby got beaten & abandoned. :( & GOD BLESS YOUR DAUGHTER!!! poor little Lexi. give them both hugs for me & say thank you to your daughter people like her touch my heart. My aunt & uncle will make this babies life so happy & love filled. I just don't understand how people can be so cruel. the human life is so ugly sometimes. except people like your daughter & my aunt make me continue to have hope :) my uncle is in the marine corps & loves dogs, Disney will help him with stress when he gets home from Iraq when he goes back :) & she will keep my aunt happy & busy during the day even when the baby is in bed :) |
She will come around with lots of patience and love. My rescue savannah I've had her 3 weeks now. She was terrified at first and is now used to our home and being free in it. door knocks she's off like a bolt of lightening barking like a madwoman now instead of shaking. yesterday was my birthday and my kids stopped by when my daughter came in she ran barking and when she said hi sugar (her pet name for her) she jumped right into her arms when she bent down. It took almost the whole 3 weeks to teach her about outside and walking on a leash something she's never done. She was so afraid I used a doggie stroller to make her see outside could be fun. I can now feed her with others in the kitchen and she won't spook and insist I pick her up so she can hide her face and feel secure. They will notice little signs of progress daily and she will get used to their daily routines. I didn't stop doing what I normally do since I love to cook she was afraid of that and would watch me from afar. now she's a foot from me except when I empty the dishwasher that she still thinks eats people. She did amazing with central vac and the floor steamer is still an evil invader that she can live without. She's used to the the swiffer I use for fast cleanups. she also is no longer afraid of the little bathroom and if I don't let her in she'll howl to the moon until that happens. so they do make strides forward and sometimes carry some old baggage but you get used to what their issues are. she will do fine I can't wait to see posts of her progress |
That is wonderful that the rescued her...what great people! |
It's a sad story with a happy ending for the poor pup. Props to your Aunt and Uncle. |
That poor little dog. I can't imagine something so little being beaten.:( It makes me happy to know she has a nice home with people who will love her, be patient and understanding, and treat her like a princess.:) |

Hugs to your aunt and uncle for rescuing Disney. That poor baby being beaten and hurt like that makes me sick. Thank goodness Disney now has a loving home with people to care about him and love him. Wishing all the very best for Disney and your family!!!!! |
OMG!!!! That is so sad!!!!! I don't understand human cruelty either! I never will!! Tell your aunt and uncle THANK YOU for rescuing that precious baby!!!! That is wonderful of them.....once she establishes trust with her new family....and feels loved....she won't dwell on the past...those will be long lost memories!! |
I know :) I am so excited for them & for that little baby too. She deserves a good life :) & I know that she will now have that |
Awww what a sweet thing for your Aunt to do!! How horrible of those people to try and charge her $100 for a poor, defensless animal in NEED of medical attention that they had just found (and clearly) had no intention of helping.....God Bless your Aunt and I wish Disney all the best!!! :D |
we are thinking that they are the ones who did all of this, we have a feeling that they didnt find her :( & yes, she needs to be on medication for awhile to get that infection to go away. |
