Clicker Training? I bought a clicker and want to begin in-depth clicker training before I actually start it, but I was just wondering what you guys thought of it. Everything I have read about it has been very positive, just wanted some feedback from the yorkie experts:D |
can I bump myself? |
I bought a clicker for Ian about two weeks ago, and I LOVE it!! It has such an unusual sound that Ian responds to it immediately. Right now I'm only using it for "Come". I reinforce the positive behavior with verbal praise; everything I read said that you should reinforce with a treat to strengthen the response, I plan to try that as well, but I really want him to respond to my voice since I won't always have a treat with me. I only have one, but plan to buy a few more...just in case. My husband and I were shocked how quickly he responded. |
Love the clicker! We are really into clicker training, it is great. Dogs respond better to mechanical noises than to voice so it is very powerful once your dog knows what the click means. Timing is key. You must click as soon as the dog finishes the correct response. Good luck! |
You know I use it, Lauren, for Jackson :) Love it, love it, love it. We can work on the pups this weekend if ya want! |

I bought a clicker, along with all the other puppy supplies, before we even brought Nicco home at 12 weeks with all intents of using it, but for whatever reason we never did. He is 4 now. I still have it. Do you think it is too late to try? He's well trained on the basics, but we have issues with stay and come (when he runs off). |
