Don't know....... but I have the oldest yorkie in our household! :D We adopted a 10 yr. young little girl last month! Congrats on your baby being 17+... THATS AWESOME!!:) |

Congratulations!! I hope you have many more years with your baby(?) They are always babies no matter how old. |
Thank you everyone :D Zac still thinks hes a baby :p His twin brother tye lived till his was 16 years and 8 months but we had to let him go because he had kidney failure :( |
17...that's great!! Alot of good care and love!! Sammy will be 13 in June. |
What do you feed him, what vitamins etc...I had to ask... I want all my babies to make it that long and there has to be a secret right? Congrats to you 17 years...we should all be so lucky! |
Nikki is a rescue so we have no way of knowing how old he really is. 3 vets have all said he was at least 16 and that was a year ago. So he is estimated to be 17. His hearing is bad, he is blind in one eye, can't see well out of the other and sleeps 95% of the time. But he still is pretty spry when up. I have never had a dog live to this age. How is Zac doing? Does he have any signs of dementia? |

If i am honest zac over his 17 years has probably had EVERYTHING a dog shouldn't including chocolate, coffee, milk, tea, crisps, biscuits, sweets not to mention the things he has chewed and then eaten like wood, glass, plastic, wallpaper and carpet to name just a few :D I have been lucky with him health wise really as he has only been really ill once when he eat a plastic dog toy which caused him to have fits and damaged his liver but after a month on just chicken his liver renewed its self back to normal. He does have an infection that was caused by rhinitis which makes his eye sore and a bit chesty but he is doing fine on his meds and still a happy active boy. Zac was starved of oxygen when he was born so he is what some would call 'special needs' which i think is probably the secret to zac as his body might be 17 years old but his brain is only 4 months old :D well he thinks anyway :D |

I have just brought some Activate to try as i have heard some really good things about it. Zac does have cataracts and a chronic eye infection from the rhinitis but his meds keep it in check, he is also going deaf but he can hear if i shout. Best way to tell how old a dog is by its teeth but as yorkies suffer from bad teeth most at zac or nikki's age dont have many left, zac has 3. |
1 Attachment(s) You can prob see in this photo zac's eyes have the glazed look of going blind but he can still see a packet of sweets at 20 paces :D |
Zak is one handsome dude! He looks amazing for his age. :) |
