Hello and welcome! Best of luck in your search for a pup |
Welcome to YT! Do a lot of research before you get a puppy. You will be glad if you did! Best of luck! |
I'm want to find one close to me so I can go meet the people and check out the home they are raised in. Thanks for your advice.:) |
If anyone knows of anyone with a male puppy in Ky plz let me know.. thanks!!!:aimeeyork |
Hey I am from Ky to. Near Paducah. I just bought my furbaby 2 weeks ago! I hope you find one near you soon. I kept searching craigslist and the paducahsun online classifieds. Found him on the classifieds. Good Luck! He has stolen our hearts!:) |
READ READ READ..... there are many things that you need to know about the breed..... Liver shunt, luxating patellas, what testing can be done for these things before you buy, & vaccines, neutering, spaying..... also you may want to know about taking a puppy home before it reaches 12 weeks of age (there is a reason that this small breed needs to be with their mom a little longer than you may think).... also why you should have nutrical on hand..... So much info here on this site.... Happy Hunting!!! Hope you find the puppy of your dreams! and... :welcome4::welcome4::welcome4: to Yorkietalk! |
Would you care to tell me how much you gave for your puppy? Reg?ect.. Thanks |
I agree with above poster! I probably read up on the breed for at least a month before buying! But I did have a knowledge of "dogs" We raised, bred, and trained beagles for several years. I am the one who has always taken care of all the medical needs of the tribe. Still, yorkies are sure different in many ways! |
I raise pugs. I usually have 1 litter a year. So I have some experience with dogs/puppies. I want a yorkie for pet only. I have wanted one for about a year. Taking my time and looking for the best little guy to love. |
I totally agree with learning about health issues and I think most of all make sure you have a vet that knows a yorkies particular issues because they are not like an average pet. My Charlie was very sick lst year to the tune of almost 3 grand. the biggest problem... my first vet. she did not know what needed to be looked at even when I brought it to her attention. and trust me I know that you have to be careful about what you read on the internet but I did my homework and when my poor Charlie was close to death I let the vet have it and went elsewhere. Dont get me worng, the vet was not new to me, I had used her from the very beginning of owning Charlie and she was fine for routine puppy stuff but she did not know about the special needs of a yorkie and neither did I but now I know what to watch for and I have a vet that knows what to do. They are so very special please learn all you can before getting one and the above posts are right this IS a good place to learn things. Good Luck |

Not sure if you are interested in a rescue, but YTNR has a darling Yorkie in Kentucky right now named Banjo. Here is the link and I imagine they would love to receive your application for consideration. Looking for a New Home... I do hope he gets a wonderful forever home to just the right person. |
