I have no idea how to help with this issue but would LOVE to know. Teddi has had so much fear and anxiety since she went to have her surgery 3 years ago. She shakes and pants every single time she gets in the car (and we go in the car ALL the time - several times a week). I've gotten used to it. She will not calm down and will not take a treat because she is so worked up. She thinks she is going to the hospital. And this does not last a few minutes. She can pant for an hour straight. She is also scared of all noises - this is a direct result of being in a hospital and having lots of noises around and her not knowing what was going to happen. If I drop a spoon in the kitchen she literally FLIES across the room. She is petrified of every little noise - but I know this so I try to be very cautious of this. Of course I would LOVE to have her cured from this but I feel like it has now been 3 years and that it is not going to end. I even tried her on doggie prozac from the vet but didn't notice any change and he said that it doesn't work for all dogs. I would love any advice too!

RONLYNN,

As you have read, I'm just shocked at some of the things I've read here.

This may be hard/impossible for you, but I credit the "spunk" my Female
has, to having learned it from my Male. Is it possible that you/others
might have the opportunity to expose your animal to a "stronger" one ?
I clearly saw the "learning process' taking place between my two,
it may be worth investigating for you.

I really feel sorry for it, for the fear your animal has
hopefully you can find some relief for it in some way.

I am currently looking into getting a sister for her so hopefully that will help her!! (but you know it could backfire and the new puppy could take on Teddi's traits too.....we'll have to see!).

The things that "shock" me are the threads of cruelty(and I really shouldn't be shocked by that, just hate it). Every dog is not the same and there alot of those on here with only one baby. Maybe some cannot do the exposing thing or for that matter even want to, for fear of thier little one getting hurt. We all come up here for advice and that is what we give to find some refiel for their dilema. We all want the best for our babies and for the other little ones up here or we would not even bothered to join this forum .

Agreed...work through her issue first then when you get a new little one she will be the one to train your new one.

You know, I don't know what I am thinking! My little Elsa is the fiercest one I know and her baby is SOOOO skiddish. They play rough together but when it comes to human things her baby is just "out there"...runs, gone, disappears. I think in time it will work out, it has to because we are not a very laid-back-people. We love life!!!
