So sorry... Hi All!! I wanted to apologize that it's been FOREVER since I posted here! I hope you and all your furry Yorkies are doing well! :) As you may remember, I joined here right after my Yorkie, Macy, got a collasped trachea. She is doing MUCH better now. Running, playing, eating, barking and causing trouble. ;) However, I have one question for you all. I switched from collar to harness. Every time I take the harness out, she freaks out and runs away. WHY? :( I have to hold her now every time I get the harness out, so she won't run away. She'll start to shake, but once I got it on her and she's out, she's fine. I feel bad every time she shakes or runs away. :( Does your Yorkie do the same thing?? |
Mine all run to me the minute I take out their harnesses because they have positive association for it..they know it means outside time or going on an adventure...what type of harness are you using? Is it uncomfortable for her in some way maybe? Does it have a clip that maybe pinched her accidentally once? |

Grreat Choice™ Basic Adjustable Dog Harness - Harnesses - Collars, Tags & Leashes - PetSmart What kind of harness do you use? Where do you buy it from? I want Macy to be comfortable as possible. Before we switched, she LOVED the collar. She would come running to me everytime I took it out, but after I switched, she doesn't seem to like it as much. :( If I take her outside with no harness, she loves to run around and play. |
I have padded ones that are super thick and soft and bright orange reflective...they are made by a lady who sells to a local pet boutique. ***I forget who but a lady on here makes t-shirt and dresses that have a D ring on them...I was going to look too because I wanted to get some from her you might want to try those.*** I have a similar one to you also, another thinner step in style and I have the four paws ones (they're cheapos though we got as a gift) we actually have several many here but I can see how that might not be the most comfortable. I have accidentally clipped my BF's dog before and well she was less than friendly about me putting her harness on after that for a bit...to be honest she got her skin clipped in because she was less than cooperative about me putting her harness on...treat rewards work great but ye I'd really look into finding the ones by the lady on here and if you find them before me let me know too! |
Zhoie wears a wonderful thin silk harness made by Chattiesmom. That is her user name on here. Look her up and her website is there too. She does beautiful work and there is many colors to choose from. She makes them to fit your baby...that are great and comfortable. They are step-in, buckles up on the back and very easy to put on. |
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-foxypups.html That's the link for Chattiesmom and I started another thread about the other ones here's the link to that too http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ember-who.html www.fairytailsfashion.com Here's what I was talking about http://www.fairytailsfashion.com/harnesses.php I have to say wow I want the double walker from Chattiesmom now too! |
I use Lil Pals Daisy Harness. They are great...very lightweight and are one piece....a simple step in harness with a leash attached. YTer mimimomo sells them. Here is a YT thread where you can find her website link: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...n-brushes.html |
you might want to look up puppia harness's those are really soft material and have a huge selection of patterns. My yorkie savannah has one of those nylon types you have but i had to get her something to use while I waited for her tirsch exclusiv one and I was not fond of it myself at all but I was so used to my binky's soft leather one which she used to even sleep in at times not wanting it off..lol My binky had that brand and its made of italian clothing leather and eventually softens up like butter soft and its still in mint condition 11 years later...my cousins shih tzu is now using it. I chose rolled leather for hers which is just the part that goes over her head only because she's so tiny at 3.6lbs this one had an adjuster on the bottom to make sure I could get it to sit on her breastbone plus the adjuster for girth. savannah is getting used to the harness but if I have to say she liked it I'd be lying she's never had anything like this but is starting to understand day by day that it means we are about to go out and have fun. |
