Harley graduated today!
 
We graduated from Life Skills, which is like the one right after puppy class. amongst us was: Tiley the bull dog (who graduated with honours as she did it twice), Kate the newfoundland, Body the lab, Disney the boxer, and a Burmese whose name escapes me...

Needless to say harley was the little poop disturber of the class, everyone else ignored us while we bark in our little corner. Our accomplishments: a much more reliable "come", "down", "bow", "stay", "go to your house" starting "heel" "up" (into my arms), "leave it" , and jumping through a hoop.

I'm a proud momma! :p I just wish my quiet little yorkie would have avoided discovering his voice.

Next week we start beginner agility! I"M PUMPED!!!!

congratulations!! My Piper is very vocal too and very protective, i've been debating whether to sign her up at Petco, or someplace where they have some sort of discipline (not harsh you know what i mean) class where you can stop them from barking like nut jobs at people. I've calmed her a little, there is a bit of a change but certainly not enough. I've been tempted to buy a clicker, but would like some assistance in leading me the way down the right path to stop her aggressive barking.

Anyway congrats again you should be proud:animal-pa;)

How great! That's kind of cute about him finding his voice. I suppose now you can teach him "quiet".:D Congrats! Agility will be fun for you both.

Congwatulations Hawwy, I forgot to tell your mama how much fun yuse was at de Valentine Ball. I had such a goood time. I fwink we were the babies there. Ise am wearning to gwowl and bark too. Maybe we have nuther date soon. I sowwy I won't be as smawt as youse cuz onwy my siser Tessie go to school, but I be awful fweet to u. Good Wuck in your next class. :luvu:: Sassy

Woohoo! That is AWESOME! I'm so pumped to hear about how Harley does with agility -- I just know you and he will love it!

Check out YouTube channel -- YouTube - kikopup's Channel She has a LOT of info on clicker training and barking. Among many other things!

Congrats Harley! Bullet is a puppy class dropout - he got "sit" and "down" but once we started "stay". I don't care, I love him anyway! Rio graduated from puppy class but she chose to not go to graduate school! LOL!

Congratulations Harley! Nala was super quiet until about 11 months or a year, but when she discovered her bark, boy did she make up for lost time!!

have you tried that sharp short chhhhhht sound and pointing your finger like cesar millan does? My rescue yorkie Savannah is doing this behavior now and she just started walking on leash thursday night.

It took me weeks to get her used to even going outside.

she saw the greyhound and poodle and booger...she growls..starts barking and lunged even though they were 1/4 mile away.

I just did that chhhh sound and pointed her and told her to be nice and she settled.

its going to take some work because she did it again when she saw the dog walker with 5 dogs.

I feel in my heart if I remain consistant she'll learn

I've thought about it, and talked to my trainer about that method, but truth be told, while he is an amazing trainer, I'm not too keen on his methods. I used to train horses, so when I watch that show I know a lot of why he's doing the things he does and it just doesn't jive with the way i've chosen to train. There are a few things he does that I like, but I'm going to give the positive training a try and see if I can nip it in the bud.

Tanks Sassy, Is had lots of fun too! Is very happy we graduated, (don't tell momma) Is LOVE to barks now!!!!
