Two dog purse??? I was wondering what people do if they have two yorkies, totalling around 12 pounds or so. What kind of discreet purse would work - I'm thinking of holidays and want to be able to take them with me when I get to a shopping mall. Is it possible to have two fit? Darwin is close to 8 pounds and Mabel is just under 4 pounds. Do I look for one that can hold a 20 pound dog? Love to hear any great ideas - thanks!:) |
I have a double sided dog carrier that I got from Louie Dog but it was a few years ago. And I have made some with double ends but other designers don't make any double ended dog carriers really. |
Maybe you should get a stroller...it would be discreet and nobody would know they were in there. It would also free your hands to look at things. I know there are some really nice ones that aren't too expensive. Just google "cheap doggie stroller" :) I just ordered a doggie bike trailer/stroller. |
Do you think a purse for a 20lb dog would work for two smaller dogs?? My husband would never talk to me again if I had a stroller - small town.....:D I've been looking on eBay for a larger dog purse but don't want to spend too much if it won't work - has anyone tried this??? Thanks for your suggestions! |
I have a purse carrier for Cerise and have been thinking of getting her a buddy/sister or brother, but when I do I will purchase an awesome stroller for them. Two will be too heavy for me at the age of 50 to carry around. |
I also think a doggie stroller would be so much easier than a bag for two. My sis got me one on ebay recently for my birthday and it was 39.99 including shipping and is such a pretty pink. It so looks like a baby stroller and would fit two dogs since it has teathers in there to hold two dogs from jumping out if you wanted to leave the mesh part open. If you toss a blanket over it no one would know you had dogs in it unless they barked..lol |
i've carried 2 dogs in a carrier. the dogs total up to be around 14 pounds and it is very heavy to carry that much for any length of time. i bought the largest size pettote carrier. there is ventilation on both sides and alos on the top. the carrier is made beautifully, they are pretty expensive though but worth it. i also have a doggy stroller and those are wonderful. i dont use it that much but have used it and the style i have you can zip them in and they will still be well ventilated and most people dont even notice there are dogs in there, they think you have a baby in it |
i've had 2 in a carrier totally about 14 pounds and it is very heavy to carry for any length of time. Pettote makes really nice ones . the biggest size would fit 2 perfect, but they are expensive. i've used a doggy stroller in the mall and it is wonderful. if you zip them in, most people dont even realize there is a dog in the stroller, they think there is a baby. |

Would this one work for you? Sherpa Sherpa Double Sided 2-Dog Carrier - TheUncommonDog.com |
Thanks for all of your responses! The Sherpa bag looks really good; I'll check into that. I'm not sure I can pull off the stroller idea - just fitting it into our smaller truck while on holidays wouldn't work. When I brought Darwin into Walmart, I put his carrier into a shopping cart and put my coat over top - I also carried a squeaky toy from the pet dept. so if he barked I could just say I squeezed the toy:D It is really unfair of the rules - when you take your dogs on holidays it would be nice to have a place in the mall that you could securely leave your pets. Do they really expect people to leave their loveable pets in a vehicle where they could overheat or get stolen - with all of the customer service ideas, it really is unbelievable that somebody hasn't come up with a smarter idea. |
When we take the motor coach we can leave them in it if we need to go anywhere that we can't take them, but with taking the car only, then my husband just stays outside to walk the babies around while I run in to get whatever is needed. ;) If we need to stop for a bite to eat (if just in the car) we will usually just look for a Taco Bell or In and out burger, that has some grass around it and one will go inside and get the food after we walk them around first. It all works out. |
We live in a small town with only a few boring stores so my point of going on a holiday IS to go shopping!:) Thinking about going to a real mall and having my pups outside wouldn't work for me - do most larger cities have doggy day care and do you trust them?? I guess I could look into boarding them but that's so expensive and I'd miss having them around. I know - I want it all!!:D It's too bad that North America isn't more like Europe where animals are more acceptable - sigh.... |
