My parents paid for $400 for my yorkie Lacey but that was in 1992. That is how much the pet store sold her for. Since she died in June, we have been looking all over for another yorkie. My mom only wants a female though. And the prices for females are anywhere from $900-1500. But, we may have found our answer. We found a man in Houma which is the next town over from us. And his yorkie is due November 22nd and he is selling the pups for only $500! Registered with papers! The only thing is that he already got a stack of numbers of people interested in the puppies when they are born. We are pretty far down on the list since we just found out about him. So, it is a very slim chance that we will actually get a puppy. Especially since if any females are produced, they will be the first to go. I am just hoping if we are the first ones that show up and show how interested we are, that maybe we will be the ones chosen. |
Peoples always want the best of the best and pay the cheaper price . It is always as if the breeder were supposed to always lick their feet . It is really annoying . |
Hi everyone, I am new to the site. Like a lot of people I'm sure, I wanted a Yorkie from the time I was five! We had every other breed of dog growing up except Yorkies. I now two (human) children and had given in to the fact that I could never afford one. We took in two Bassetts from a breeder who had sold two other ones to my parents. Last month, we went by to let the dogs visit him. He pulled me aside and said he wanted to show me a puppy. I was shocked when he pulled out a Yorkie. I had forgotten that he also bred them occasionally. He said the puppy's brother and sister sold for $1500 and $1800. With a pout, I handed the puppy back. He said he remembered my parents telling him how much I had always wanted one and that even though he had people coming to look at him, he would sell him to us if we wanted him....for $250...with papers! My parents bought him for me as an early 30th birthday present. Happy Birthday to Me! So my point is...Don't be discouraged by the price. Some breeders are not just in it for money, but want good homes for them with families who really appreciate them. I hope you too find a breeder like mine. Good Luck. |
I just bought my new baby girl from a home breeder for $1800. She asked $2000, but took $1800. She had some pups for $800, but they were larger. My Zoe was .9 lbs at 7 weeks. At 11 weeks she was 1.25 lbs. I am aiming for a 4 lb adult. This is our second Yorkie. Our older dog is a 7.5 year old male we paid $400 for at the time, but his adult weight was 5.5 lbs. He gained weight this past year and is now 8 lbs. If you want a smaller dog, you will pay a much higher price, but if you shop around and are okay with a 5 to 7 lb dog, you should be able to find one for $700 to $800 from a good home breeder. My breeder has 20 year experience breeding yorkies & is known for quality animals. Good luck. Even though Zoe was pricy, she is worth every cent!! |
We found a breeder only a 10-minute drive from our home. All her yorkies are home raised and not in a kennel. She also raises Maltese. She has 4 litters due all in December. Her prices start at $800 for the females. I really don't want a really tiny yorkie. They are adorable. But, I am worried if I go under 4 pounds, that something bad will happen. Like if they get sick, it could be deadly because they are so small. Or I would always be worried about someone stepping on her. Lacey was only 4 pounds and I was so overprotective of her. I worried about her constantly. When she got sick with kidney failure, she got down to 2 pounds. And could not get her weight back on. So, I will be satisfied just as much with a yorkie over 5 pounds. I am sure that this lady will have one to sell us at the starting price of $800. Especially since she knows we are an experienced yorkie owner and we will give the puppy a forever home. The puppy will have nothing but the best care, love and attention. |
1 Attachment(s) My boyfriend bought Tigger at $695.00. I wouldn't have it any other way. He's my pride and joy. Heres a pic of him at 10 weeks. We got him from a lady in Oklahoma. she drove out 45 minutes to meet my boyfriend and his friend. I had to work. she was really nice. we got him off Nextdaypets.com but I now know that I shouldn't have done that due to the many scams that have resulted on that site. But who could resist that goregous face??? I don't regret it at all |
Awwwwww. He is so cute! You are lucky you got such a nice breeder from Nextdaypets. I browse through it, but their prices are sky high. Mostly $2000 and up. And nothing even close to my area. And you are right, you have to be very careful about purchasing a pet online. Lots of scammers out there! The breeder I found was just from word of mouth. She never advertised online. She does not even have a web site. |
My female was $1400.00. The males in the litter were selling for $1100.00. It was a lot of money but I had checked around and it was about the going rate for my area (Northern California). |
