1 yorkie or 2!!!? Ive heard that some yorkies do better being the only dog. I really want another yorkie. What do you guys think? |
I thought I had an "only child" with Max. Never dreamed of having a second, but then I saw him interact with a couple of Yorkies. We ended up bringing home his brother Teddy. :) They are big buddies, inseparable. Does your Yorkie have experience with other dogs? Are you prepared for twice the work and twice the expenses (vet care, food, and more)? |
I got Bella last May, and after several months, just KNEW I had to have another. I started looking in November and in January I finally got my baby boy!! I wouldn't have it any other way! But as Kristin said, it is double the work and double the money! If thats no issue, go for it!!!!!! :D ***I am thinking there will be 3 in my future**** Just don't tell my hubby please. :D |

I think it depends on the dog and it's household. If the dog isn't social then I'd opt for an only. Also are you willing to accept the responsibilities with Double the everything. For me, I think Troy would do well with another dog. He's social and get's along with just about every dog. But for our household adding a second is a no go. Not only for expense, it's a time concern with us. It's simple to be able to take Troy with us on trips. And my bf who isn't a dog person can only tolerate one. |

For those of you that have two or more yorkies....what is a good age gap between them? I always regretted that with my last yorkie, I didn't get her sister, as I was the first person to look at the pups and had my pick, but at the time my kids were young, I had alot of expenses & just couldn't swing it financially. Now with my new pup, I'm already thinking about a second one and wonder when is the best time to introduce another pup? thanks :) |

Best wishes in making your choice. |
Sydney plays great with her cousin Ginger, which is also a Yorkie. Sydney is still my little girl, though, and she comes to me when she's not busy taking toys from Ginger. lol |
Two are wonderful. I have a female and a male and I will always have that combination because they get along very well and would be lost without each other yet are very bonded to us also. |
I got mine about a year apart....I wanted to be able to potty train one...before I got another puppy....and they are inseparable!! |
I have always had 2 dogs at a time, for companionship. Even though I am home most of the time, I like knowing when I'm gone they have each other for company. After losing one schnauzer, I got my Yorkie.... and got addicted! After that I added 3 Morkies, and now have the 4 girls and love them all so much I can't imagine life without them. I do have to stop myself from looking at puppies now, because my brain starts thinking...maybe just one more;). Obviously it depends on your individual situation, but multiples are great. I don't take them with me shopping and such, it's too much. They are happy at home with the gang. |
