SO angry to find out there is a puppy farm not far from me! I am so angry to find out that there is a puppy farm not far from where I live! I was checking out the classified's in my local paper and saw an advert which caught my eye. This guy was selling around 6 different breeds of puppies and a couple of those were cross breeds. He had a website so I checked it out: Ivy Leaf Kennels His address is also on that site (Ivy Leaf Kennels, 1 Barrons Way, Burnhope, Durham, DH7 0DJ) so I put it into Google maps, it just brought up a normal house. I checked out a bird's eye view of the house and from what I can see there isnt any huge building round the back to indicate this is some sort of mill. But then again he could have smaller kennels or be running it from his garage. I was still suspicious so decided to check out any reviews in Google, turns out he IS a puppy farm! :thumbdown Take a look: WAG - Waterside Action Group The fact that he has so many different breeds of puppy for sale and that he dosnt register with the KC or have a health guarentee on his site were red flags from the start. But those stories are so sad. I know he dosnt have yorkie pups available at this time but I feel we should put his name out there as much as we can to warn buyers of his horrible breeding practices. BUYER BEWARE!!:mad: I also have the same surname as these greeders and want to make it clear there is NO relation! |
Another site with sad stories: off_highstreet: A quick warning |
Oh and just noticed you can buy via Paypal! Disgusting. And apparently BBC news investigated them. How are they still getting away with this? |
There is a Facebook group protesting to have them closed down but I cant access it because Im at work right now, it would appear in Google if anyone want to join it. |
OMG how unbelievably sad!!! I just don't understand how people can live with themselves seeing how they treat those poor little animals :( I hope he's shut down SOON!!! :( |
He also goes by the name Dave Knox. |
At least the BBC *DID* a story on them. That is a really good thing. I'm not sure how things like this continue to operate after they have the media attention, but they do. :( My mum informed me that the petstore, where I originally fell in love with a maltese/yorkie mix but luckily did my research and did NOT buy at the time, is in the process of being investigated against. I hope they get them to shut down!!! I wanted to go to a rally for it, but I had classes. For anyone that lives in my area DO NOT BUY FROM STEVE'S PETWORLD in Amherst, NY. They get their dogs from mills. Don't let them feed you that "local breeder" garbage they try to sell you. It is total BS. Also, if you are in the area, join the rallies/protests! I'll be looking out for the next one. |

I agree it will have gotten their name out there so more people recognise the name as a puppy farm/mill. He is also a broker for other breeders, checking out other dog forums I have seen breeders stating they have been contacted by him asking how much for the whole litter.:thumbdown You should tag Steve's PetWorld in this thread so it appears when people Google his name. Ivy Kennel's are so close to me I feel I just want to drive up there and rescue them all, while giving HIM a peice of my mind!:mad: |
I have reported them to the RSPCA, it has probably been done before but another complaint wont hurt matters. |
