Grooming question
 
Okay, so I am finally letting Bee's hair grow out. & it is getting longer now, so she gets tangeled & matted easier now & I dont have a good brush, because she didnt need one because I always kept her hair so short. But now she doesa, I have this great detangler, but I still need a good brush, I need a suggestion for a good brush & what type, if someone could send me a link that would be great too. :) Thank you all.

I love using Jenny's Madan Pin brush... but I also use a fine tooth comb type brush afterwards... You could talk to her and see which size she recommends...

I would be totally lost without my Madan brushes and combs.
(I was without the grooming comb for a week, as the groomer took it home with her one day by mistake after grooming Beamer, and it was H E double hockey sticks! not having the comb, had to use the small mustache comb until the groomer came back the following week.)

I like Pet Head by Bed Head-wish they were better quality though, but then again you get what you pay for at their price! The primpin comb is awesome and the pin brush has plastic beads at the end I think most pin brushes look like instruments of torture! :o)

I switched to Madan brushes from the pin brush with the plastic beads on the end. The plastic beads on the end were damaging Beamer's coat.

:thumbup::thumbup: The beads at the end are more torture for the dog and the hair because they catch and tear. Madan brush pins are gentle.

I also recommend Mimimomo and her wonderful Madan products! If you are unsure of what to order (like I was) she will help you pick things out. She is super helpful!

I highly recommend getting a pin brush, a mustache comb, and a grooming comb if you can afford them! If you can only get 2, I would go for the pin brush and the mustache comb.

I always read that you should NEVER use a brush with beads on the ends as they damage hair (that goes for humans too folks, but I care more about my Rylie than I do my own head lol :p I use a brush with beads for myself...)

That's actually what detoured me.
I tried the pin brush on myself after protests from one of my dogs 9yes I'm gentle while brushing) and it really hurt my scalp...my mini schnauzer doesn't react to them but she tolerates hand stripping (plucking) of her wiry coat and ears with no issues either-I think some of us and them are just more sensitive than others. I used to swear by my boars hair brushes but they seem to fluff the hair so much.

But if hey if it doesn't bother your dog to use it and it is less damaging sounds like a good deal. I personally haven't had an issue with hair breakage issue with my bead headed pin brushes but that's a good thing to know, I'll really be watching for it now.

Was the pin brush a Madan pin brush? The Madan pins are beveled, so if you run it up & down your arm, it doesn't hurt or scratch. It really feels like it's massaging your scalp while brushing because the cushion is soft & the pins move while you brush.

As far as the ball tipped brushes, the hair can get caught in it & break. But if your fur baby likes it & it works for you, then it's all good.

Actually it wasn't! I'm not sure what brand it was...but I'm so glad you informed me I think I will give it a try...
is that with all Madan pin brushes or just a specific one that is especially sensitive?
Please send me a link for that one or let me know how to order it...definitely worth a try since so many people seem pleased with them and my only issue is the pokiness of others I've tried...really so glad you posted that on here!

As everyone else, I totally recommend the Madan brush. And no, it's not sharp feeling against my scalp or skin - trust me I tried it on me before I would use it on my precious furbabies!

Placing my order tomorrow! So glad I was informed and educated on Madan brushed being sensitive and different from most pin brushes! Love the color coding for them in their sensitivity too!

Minimomo was awesome too she sent me a message letting me know using the most sensitive of the brushes won't get tangles out as readily so I should look at a comb_ i love it when people really care enough to give out personal help and really explain their products!

Looking at the pin brush in most sensitive, mustache brush and aluminum spray comb...I'm a lil shocked at the reasonable price for the quality these appear to be of also...really wish I had know they weren't like most pin brushes before.

I love it I'm one of "those moms" that won't use it on my dogs unless I use it on myself...should have seen my boyfriend's face when I ate the Mellow Mut jerky...

Not gonna lie, that made me smile. :)

Also, so glad you found out something new from this thread! I only ever tried the Madan (aside from cruddy no name pet supply brushes), so I wasn't aware that other pin brushes are so pokey. I could see how they would hurt if not made right though, but the Madan doesn't hurt at all!

Let us know if you like the Madan stuff when you get it! I know we LOVE ours! :D:thumbup:

I do have to say I have never eaten their kibble or the Zuke's mini naturals...I did read over the ingredients and felt comfortable-
the Mello Mut was more so because I was concerned about how it would make my dog feel as it is supposed to be a safe and natural form (or alternative) of sedation...I felt nothing but apparently I didn't bark, bite or exhibit my normal signs of anxiety...;)...the boy has joked I make a regular habit of it after his initial shock passed!:rolleyes:

Definitely will be trying the Madan brushes on myself first too but I'm so glad the time was taken to explain that they are sensitive as so many on the market are not.
After the first one we had an issue with I tried all the pin brushed around here in the pet stores, boutiques and even the one's in the vet's retail sections...my salon actually had the Pet Heads on display as a promo for Bed Head so that's how we ended up with those...but yes the quality of them is less than wonderful. I'm shocked the Madan brushes are actually priced cheaper than what I paid for the Pet Heads...

They arrived! I got the light green pin brush, gold comb and mustache brush...they are awesome! I cannot believe the difference!

Ya'll should have told me to shut up and just try them a long time ago! Ordering more shortly!

Elvis loves them-wow the mustache comb is great!
Princess love them- the gold comb is great for her mega schnauzer coat!
I cannot believe it and this is the true test Scoobers loves the pin brush!
