You guys are great! 1 Attachment(s) I want to thank all of you for your kind words! It means alot! Daisy seems ok. She is still very skittish and scared. Shakes when we come into the room. But lets me hold her, and she went on the harness and leash and dind't freak out!!! So it shouldn't be hard to train her to use it! she still hasn't eaten much...but hoepfully she'll come around! I bought her the cutest jacket at petsmart earlier, can't wait to try it on her! She's going to the vet at 4pm today. Going to do a once over, haev her ears checked, and get her shots. I will feel better knowing she is up to date, especially with teh boys in the houe! Right now she's a stinker, she got out of the bathroom and hid in the spare room...she's under the futon and I can't get her out! She wont come! Once it gets closer to time to leave, i'll have to have hubby come in and help me get her! Otherwise, Im praying that this all works out :) Here is a pic of her from earlier today..........can't wait for her hair to grow longer!! |

Thanks for the update. We were all on pins & needles about you & this poor girl. I'm happy to hear that things are progressing. She's a very pretty girl! She does look very nervous in the pic but I'm sure with lots of TLC she'll come around. :littleang |
Amy, Just take it real slow with her. You might want to lay on the floor with some liver treats and talk to her in a very low voice. Just spend some quit time with her. Let her start getting comfortable with you and coming to you. She is very scared and confused just like you would be if you were pulled out of the only home you knew. I would also hold off putting any clothes on her until you earn her trust. I have a rescue that was dumped in the desert after the breeder was done with her (we know this from when I had her spayed and my vet told me her insides were destroyed from over breeding)and it has taken me over 8 months for her to learn to trust me. She can not tolerate being around men or tennis shoes. Most of the time she was hiding in my closet. Once she was let outside she would not come back into the house and would tremble when I would go to pick her up. Today she comes into the family room with the rest of the gang and begs to be picked up and sit on my lap. During the day she still likes to hang out in my closet and I don't push her. When we go outside she rushes to come back in with everyone. She still will run for the closet if there is a loud noise or someone is at the door but for the most part she has made a 100% turn around. She is a joy to be around and I can see a smile on her face. With lots of love and understanding she will come to love you and trust you. Cindy you too....Bless her heart - you are both hero's in my eyes. |
If you want her to adjust to her new home , you'll have to give her time . Everything is new for her so let her some time on her own . |

Thank you!! I will try and see how Lilly is doing..but not sure I even want to talk to the woman, ya know? Im not going to attempt the coat quite yet...will give her som time!! can't wait until her hair gets longer and she trusts me enough to try bows and such..... |
One day at a time So glad she's warming up a bit. She is a real cutie!! I didn't know you had other dogs in the house; so yes to update shots is important but I do think it still takes a couple weeks after to show their effectiveness.(correct me if I'm wrong because I would like to know too) |

She's a sweetie. She needs time. She's scared and confused. Bet she'll like her new home lots more than the old one once she gets over the fear of the unknown. Chicken soup for the dog lovers soul is a good food; Innova Evo is also good. There are several that are good. The thing is you need to know what she was being fed before. Since she is 6 now, it may be difficult to get her to eat something different. The only way to try to change food is to change it gradually by mixing the two slowly at first. She will bond with you in time. She's not used to children, so I cannot guess how she will react toward them. They may scare her. It's hard to say, because it depends a good deal on her personality. The children will need to learn to be soft-spoken and gentle around her and not be rowdy and that may in time win her over. Hip chips are a good small treat for them, too. They love soft, cuddly beds that are in a quiet place if they aren't used to their current environment. |
