female dog humping I have a 10 month old female that got fixed when she was 6 - 7 months. In the last 2 weeks she has began humping me :confused::confused::confused:. When I sit in a chair and put my legs out she climbs on them and begins to hump. N tonight when i was in bed talking on the phone she began to hump my arm. :eek:I have never seen a female dog do this. I was just wondering if this is normal behavior or not. How can I stop her from doing it? n y does she do it, could be cuz she actually saw ppl "doing" it? I am afraid she is gonna keep doing it even when i have ppl over. Help!! |
I always thought the humping was a dominance issue.. I really don't know why a girl dog would hump her "mommy" |

OP, when your pup does it, immediately correct her like you would any other unwanted behavior. Stand up and walk away if you have to. |
my girl reine has a pooh bear that she shakes around(pooh is bigger the she is)shell try to take it shirt off shake some more then turn him over bite the nose and start hummping:eek: pooh not for a bit where talking 30min or more then just stops and goes to sleep. its so funny to watch her take control over pooh bear and she has never done this to a person. |
This is something that some females do. I have two girls that do it. My Lillie a jack Russell and Rosie my yorkie humps my cat. All of the time. I correct them when I see it. But poor Sammy just sits there with not a care in the world. It is a dominant thing. They want Him to know that they are the top dog. And Sammy is clueless. He could care less. Lillie was about 1 lb when my Son got her. I remember sitting on the floor with this tiny puppy ,then she walked over to me and started to hump my foot. I corrected her. I just said no and got up off the floor. |
Poppy has humped her toys a couple of times but never me. It is a dominance issue, when she humps you correct her straight away. |
My Bailey use to do that to hubby and I...and I went out and got her a stuffed toy monkey, it was about the same size as her and she was 5 lbs....she loved that monkey....she stopped humping us and started humping the monkey :p We called it her **** Monkey :D...I still have that monkey, its 14 years old and my Bailey went to rainbow bridge back in Oct 2010 she was almost 15 yrs old. if she is the only dog in the house like my Bailey was...try finding something they like better than you to hump...its just a thought...it is a natural thing for them to do..so its nearly impossible to stop. Here is a thread of another Yorkie humping...Watch the video its funny. |

omg!! that video is soo funnny, def made my day!!! thanks every1 for the advise n help, i feel kind of better now knowing "lola" is not the only weirdo lol i mean... is still weird she is trying to hump her "mommy" but at least i know that homping can be really normal in female dogs. the weird thing is that when my hubby used to live with us (he left a month ago to NH) my dog never tried to hump him, so i wonder y she is trying to hump me??if its a dominace issue, should i be more strict to her? should i let her know that I am the boss?? i mean... i dont have any kids so she is like my baby, she a spoiled brat n because i dont really care she is that way, she might be thinking that she is the boss n not me.. :( |
Yes, female dogs do 'hump'. My rhodesian ridgeback humps my male Rottie quite frequently. I thought she was having an identity crisis when it first happened. But, learned quickly that even females do this. We literally had a chain of dogs humping each other in my back yard one night. My niece had her 'boggle' (Boxer and beagle) over, he is male, Kahn was humping Copper, and then Kiah jumped on Kahn and was humping Kahn. I Only wish we had a camera out for that funny moment. We laughed so hard,it was the funniest thing I had seen in a long time. We still laugh about it!! I would let her know that it is unacceptable to hump mommy however!! :D |

No she is not weird.. I have seen a lot of females hump. That is cute with the toy, I had a dog of mine do that, thought it was funny. Maybe I am just tooooo bossy for them to try on me. Is that good or bad? I have been around people who are not dog smart and make comments when they see two male dogs hummping. Most people who do not know think it is sexual. PS Dexter... you are toooooo funny!!!!! |

I don't think its bad...and I really don't think its a dominance issue as far as them trying to hump us...cause Bailey was a very well trained dog, would do anything for me...she knew I was boss. I have read tho that humping is a show of dominance just like scratching there feet on the grass after they potty or on the carpet when they come in from outside. I think its more territorial than dominance when its only 1 dog. Bella has never humped me or her toys she just don't do the humping thing at all and she is 2 yrs now...but she will scratch her feet on the grass after pottying and sometimes scratch them on my throw rugs when she comes in from outside...but now that we have Harley our 5 month old yorkie pup, she does it a lot more and will make a point to go and do it right in front of him...I believe that is dominance and territorial over him, letting him know where his place is...little stinker she is :D |
So is it okay if the ONLY thing she humps is a particular toy? My female only humps one toy. |
