1st vet visit with my new baby Vet visit went pretty well, my 8 week baby already weighs 1lb 14 oz. vet thought he was a little thin as his ribs could be felt, he did find worm eggs in poo so got med for that also gave me Nutri-cal if I should need it and he recommended I leave him on the eukanuba for now. He agreed that 3 feedings were not enough so we will do 4 feedings and mini treats while we work on potty pad training. My little guy showed me he can be a little nasty when he doesn't like something and the something was the vet trying to feel his neck. I rub his neck and he never acts like that, guess he just decided he didn't like the guy. |
Congratulations on your new pup!! My dog used to be a little bratty at the vets. I guess they get scared and they are thinking - who are these people that I don't know and what are they doing to me? Good Luck with your pup!! |
Sharing the Wisdom A wise YT member told me to touch Bella's body parts and say their names in a gentle, calm tone while bathing, brushing, petting her, expecially her neck, ears, mouth, and tail area. Actually lifted her tail as I did it. Then, the first few times we went to the vet I would say the body part he was going to touch in the same calm voice and she was just fine. Worked for Bella. Might want to give it a try. |
Presto's vet has small dogs himself so he was super gentle with my baby. He handles him like its his own and now i have learnt to trust him :) ps presto has never snapped at him |
Ringo's old Vet used to keep a small container of healthy treats. Whenever he checked out an area or two on Ringo; he popped a treat into his mouth. Right after a shot; popped a treat into his mouth. Worked like a DREAM. I am wondering why my new vet does not do this! |
