That is frightening! Could you imagine what would happen if your fierce little Yorkie got tangled up with a gator? You wouldn't have enough gator left over to make a decent pair of boots:eek: That is so true....these little guys think they are bullet proof. Muffin is constantly picking on the other dogs at my home, all of which are huge compared to her! |

Florida heat humidity year-round hot hot summers hurricanes love bugs palmetto bugs scorpions coral snakes fire ants gaters pythons banana spiders You choose. I can pay to have someone shovel the snow! I'll still stick with Illinois but continue to enjoy visiting my family in Florida. |

Oh wait! let me add snow birds to my Florida list. ;) My son and I were walking in a mall one day and there were two of them glaring at me (according to my son.) We both think that they thought I was a cougar! LOL And do I have to mention the Bush/Gore hanging chad fiasco? Oh wait- I can add real cougars to my Florida list too!!!!!:p |
That is freaking scary. I am glad I don't live in Florida anymore although the storms were awesome. Seems like those gators were always out in peoples backyards, schools etc during breeding season. Since you live in S. Florida I hope you watch out for those Burmese Pythons that are wild and their population is expanding. |
Ewww I hated the palmetto bugs. I just look at them like over grown roaches. Quote:

I'll take the beach and year-round flip flops. :) |

OMG if one more person makes a "Floridians don't know how to vote" joke! ;):p |
The great thing about snow, besides the beauty of it is that every once in a while you can call off work by telling your boss you are snowed in or the road in front of your house hasn't been plowed yet!!!!:D To say nothing about racing down a hill on a sled or cross country skying. |

Here in TX they call them what they are...roaches. Fl gave them that glorified name...nothing but cockroaches. BUT...I would still rather live in FL or TX than IL. They have bugs and snakes, too! Here in the Houston area, we have pretty much the same climate as FL and the same critters....beats the heck out of the cold winters up north! |
Lil Sis! I apologize for jacking your thread! :( I am really glad your little one is safe and has such goor protective parents!!!! |
Here is a site where you can look up bugs by state: Insect and Spider Identification - Details on North American Bugs |

NO PROBLEMS... it is all in fun. :p My daughter .. who was born and raised in Miami... moved to Chicago about 1 year ago. She loves the people and the city but she can not deal with the cold:eek:.... And the lack of sunshine in the winter. She has major depression issues and I think she is moving back...:( LadyJane.. my other daughter moved to Austin AND SHE LOVES LOVES LOVES IT!! :D It is warm ish.. a little southern (I am from Virginia so she was raised southern even in Miami) and the people are great. As to bug... I HATE them all!!!!! I can pay to have my house "sprayed" and make sure the bugs don't get in.... put can't pay for sunshine in the winter  My whole winter wardrobe can fix in a handbag  We have less snakes than Virginia, gators really don't bother us if you understand their environment ..the everglades is another story. I sure wouldn't take Remy for a walk there We live on the east coast so we don't have the snowbirds so much.. But we are really not part of the US anymore... my dh says we go to Orlando to practice english. Hey.. it is all in fun... |

In a town about 30 mins south of me, there have been alligators knocking on peoples front doors with their tails. People have woken up to find gators in their kitchens, pools, and porches. No thank you! If it's fresh water in FL, assume there are gators! Never walk close to the water. |
I am a sunshine kind of person myself and love all the bright sunny days we have here in Texas. Sometimes in January and February when we have several dark days, I turn on lights during the day but it is not the same as Mr. Sun up and working his gig(heard some teenager somewhere say that). I love snow, though, and we used to love to travel to Colorado, Washington and Oregon to partake of all of its fun side, not the least of which was all that hot cocoa in the lodge around the fire afterward! So, Remy boy, enjoy your Sunshine State, let mom and dad continue to keep you safe as a bug in a rug, and when ya'll want some snow, you can go skiing and cocoa-drinking. |

I've been waiting for someone from Alaska to weigh in! LOL But don't you guys have bears too? |
:aimeeyork:animal36:animal-pa We have bears also, the wildlife is just awsome to watch.. I think they are all so beautiful to be able to get the chance to see them in the wild or just a big moose in your yard munchin on your lilac tree.:animal-pa:animal36:aimeeyork I think that a gator is more scary than any Alaskan wildlife. |
