Hmmmm....are you sure Basil is named after a Marine? There are so many famous Basils with NAVY history! Basil Daratsos -- Navy Lacrosse player; Basil Brooke -- Royal naval Officer in WW I; Basil Izzi -- spent 83 days adrift on a life raft during WW II & lived to tell about it; Brother Basil -- a chukka boot???? (How did that get in here?); Basil John Douglas Guy, Navy Commander in early 1900's; Basil Wolfe, Royal Navy during WW II and then of course there is the fact that fresh basil is a required ingredient in any pot of Navy Bean Soup worth its salt. ;) Hehehehe.....feeling ornery today! Just a little good natured Navy~Marine gest! Actually I think it is a fine name and I look forward to seeing more pics of the cute little man along side his new siblings, especially Carlo wearing his new vest!

I am probably feeling ornery because I had to go into the base the other day and was so down about all the Navy uniforms. You can't even tell who is Navy anymore. Those weird digitized blue utilities and then letting everyone in the world wear khakis -- it is just plain unnatural, I tell you! I remember when I was young and would hear the old retired geezers talking about the way it was in their day and I thought they were just old and cantankerous. I guess there are a whole new generation thinking that about me now. My son is one of them too! I am always asking him how he is letting this happen on his watch. :D

Good morning Deb. Outside of Basil Rathbone, I really have never heard of a lot of Basil before. I coild not get Marge to agree to name him Basilone, so as I aged, I got smarter with her and comprimised! We will call him Basil, but as far as I am conecerned, his real name is Basilone.

Remember, the only reason we need a Navy is for transportation of the Marine Corps! :D

I also agree with you about the old days. The new Corps just does not measure up to the old Corps, but then again, I had the old geezers tell me that well over 40 years ago. I am still mean, not as lean, but still a Marine.

He will be here Next Thursday 2/17. He already has several outfits to get him started, his own official bed, bowls, X-Pens, new gates, exercise flooring pads (in case he wants to work out), pee pads, harness, coats, and I am sure marge has other stuff that I am not aware of.

OHHHH! My daddy retired as a CMSgt. after serving 25 years and I loved every minute of being raised an "air force brat." He passed up an army commission in the early 70's - didn't think becoming a helicopter pilot in Vietnam was a smart career move for a man with a wife and 5 kids under 8 stateside. We are proud of all our service men and women!

How ever will you both sleep till then?!

Oh they will sleep until then....it is after that I think they will need to figure that one out. :D:p;):)

For the next few days, Basil is on his Good-bye Tour. Saying farwell to all of his friends and family, packing his little suitcase, getting everything in order to join up with his new family this Thursday. The house is now Basil Proof, and the gates are up, along with additional beds, pens, and crate. Toys will be distributed, he will be made to feel welcome by all. Maxine has been getting extra rest to deal with the little man that will have an abundance of energy.

Congrats, Steve. He is a cute little guy.

I've been AWOL for a little while and I'm just seeing this. Congratulations Steve and all. He is absolutely adorable. Two Yorkies are so much fun. Carlos will wonder what happened to him but I'll bet he'll love it! Basil - you are one lucky boy!
