Yorkies are my breed. I grew up with shelties but loved the look of yorkies. I got my first one in 1970. After losing another yorkie at the age of 6 1/2 to CT in 1997 I was so devastated that I let my husband and dtr talk me into a pomeranian. After I lost my job and had more time I wanted a yorkie again. Now I have 4 yorkies so yes yorkies are my breed. lol |
I didn't think I would ever love a breed like I loved my schnauzers. After back problems, and knee surgeries I needed something smaller because grooming and bathing was so hard. Although I still have 2 schnauzers, we have since gone to yorkies and I love them to death. They are my 2 favorite breeds. |
I went from the King of Terriers, Airedales (the biggies!:animal36) to the smallest, Yorkies and this is where I shall stay. They are a perfect size to hold, groom and most importantly...we all can fit comfortably in bed!:D |
I love my Gypsy, but I do not think I want another yorkie mostly due to the price and some other issues. Don't hate me. The reason I got a yorkie was hubby had agreed to pay for a small breed dog. Something he surprised me about. He hates dogs in the house (we now have 4 in our doublewide). We were at the flea market and there was a breeder there selling dog supplies and he had one of his dogs there. Hubby said go ask him questions about the breed so we did. And hubby sd look into them. I was so shocked. We would up with my baby. I love poms and most other small dogs. After Seymour. I sd i wanted another pom. Saw an ad on craigs list for a long hair chi (dh already had one which he adores). The price was right $20.00 so we got him. If I had the money I would get a King Charles Spaniel. Love the look. |

Exactly. Golden's were my husbands ONLY breed. Boy, was he in for a surprise when he met Rhett. |
Oh Yes !! I always had Big dogs and I still miss them , I always say if only they were here, but I know now that it's hard work and can't take them with me any where. I never gave away any of my dogs, they pass for diff resons. I went without a dog for about 4 yrs, Until I went to a dog show and saw these little yorkie . I was in Love , I wanted one so bad I got books , I talked to breeders at the show and after thinking about it for at least 6 mons, on my bd in 2006 I found a breeder and when I saw these little puppies I wanted them all !! I found my Miley that was being pick on , by her brother. Miley try to came to me and her brother stop her and bark at her. I wanted that little furbaby so bad and she is my world , I don't know what I would do without her in my life. I now have her and Max's , but he is not like her , she is special I treat them the same, but she knows what I need and when I need it. Love is to have own a yorkie !! :D bark@ulater !!!! manina, miley:aimeeyorkmax:aimeeyork |
I grew up with Boston Terriers...My Mom and Aunt use to Show/Breed them..and when I got married and started having kids I knew I wanted a family dog, a little one...and my neighbor had a Yorkie named Molly she was sooo smart and beautiful and at that point I knew I wanted a yorkie...I have been a proud Yorkie owner for 15 years now...and would never own any other breed...Yorkies are my Breed :D |
Definitely, yes We live in a condo so a small breed is the only type that makes sense. And, our building has an animal weight limit that reinforces that point of view. I initially looked a cavaliers, however DH is allergic to dogs (despite having them his entire life) and I wanted to try to find a dog that he would enjoy having around and potentially not have to take allergy meds all the time. Hence... the yorkie. Added benefits over the cavalier were lack of shedding, and even smaller size so he can fly with us very easily. Now that we've had Remy, I love his demeanor / personality and temperament. Have actually spent a lot of time trying to learn more about the breed as a result. |
YEP YORKIES are my breed!!! Even my husband is surprised how much our little babies have gotten into his heart!!! We do have a large dog...but can't see our lives without Yorkies in it!! |
Ok I have three number one breeds: Yorkies, Maltese and Mutts. Sorry but it's like saying which one is your favorite kid and I love them all. |
Wow. Well as a child, we had a border collie. He was a GREAT dog. He got ran over when he was 10 years old. After that, my mom was heartbroken. I didn't get another dog till I was a teenager, a schnauzer. Then a year later a Maltese/poodle cross( he is 100% toy poodle the Maltese gene skipped him ha!). Then I moved out, got married. Mom kept schnauzer and maltipoo. A week before my wedding me and future Hubby drove 8 hours to get Winston, schnauzer. He is awesome. I will always love a schnauzer!! But my heart was still not complete... I always wanted a yorkie. So in October I got Remy! He is the best. I think my breeds are schnauzers and yorkies. :-) |

Up until November I thought I would always, always have Cavalier King Charles Spaniels (I have my 3rd and 4th now.) I've always said that if I ever get put in a nursing home (hopefully a long, long way in the future, I'm in my late 40's), it had to be one that would allow a cavalier. BUT, I've never had a dog like Zoe, our precious yorkie girl. She is a DOLL BABY! Time will tell, but I may either be a Yorkie person or a Yorkie and Cavalier at the Same Time person. |
I was always a 'big dog' fan and was particular to rotties in general. Now that I have my little dogs, I am way more a little dog fan, and can't imagine anything but yorkies! Of course I have not had any other small dog breed, so can't be certain! LOL |
I fell MORE in love with a German Shepherd again today. I met one today who was a very pretty girl, fabulous temperament. She did great with Jackson. Pretty mellow but loved chasing her balls. Plus, lately I've been wanting a big dog (even though I think small dogs are much easier in terms of travel and my lifestyle right now) because I DO feel safer with one. Like, when I'm walking the Rottweiler that I watch every day, I definitely have a sense of security. I don't EXPECT my dogs to protect me nor would I train a personal protection dog or anything, but I do think it makes people think twice about coming near you if you're walking by yourself. I think that'd be nice whenever I am living on my own. |
