Need advice urgently Hi I am fostering a mum with her 8 pups they were abandoned, have now found a home for mum and the runt when mum finishes nursing, they are going together to a lovely couple who are besotted and visiting every other day to bond with mum. My problem is that the runt is soooooooooooo tiny and her siblings are really picking on her,she loves them though and if supervised plays well (which I feel she needs). I am reluctant to leave her over night unsupervised with them now I am afraid they will really hurt her. Last night I put her in a large box with mum and mum could get out put pup couldnt then mum could get in with the others, this morining Poppy the runt was very distressed I dont know if mum stayed with her much. Should I take Poppy up with me of a night untl she is bigger, she weighs 11 ounces and the others are a pound and a half weight.so massive compared to her, and more agile. Also I think Poppy is constipated, hard to tell as mum still cleans up after them, any tips please they are now 5 weeks old. Thanks for any advice.:) |
separate.. Separate mom and the runt and let the runt nurse by itself a few times a day. good luck |
Post in the breeder forum to get faster responses. They can help you with specifics on how to help the runt with constipation and nursing. The runt is so tiny and needs special care from you. |
