Bassinet Advise 2 Attachment(s) I recently purchase a used Arms Reach Mini Co-Sleeper Bassinet for the girls. Since my mil passed away at the end of Oct, the girls are very hesitant of sleeping in their kennels. Don't know why, but I carry them upstairs one at a time and put them in their kennels. They no longer will do it on their own. They are scared, but don't know why. I thought the bassinet would be better because they can see me and actually touch me, just like sleeping in the bed with me....but not. The first night they listened and watched my every move; no sleep. Now they have been in the bassinet for three days, I think, and are doing great. They can jump out and on the bed, but are doing good by staying in there until morning when we get up. So what are my pros and cons? Is this a bad decision in the long run? Anybody else do this? Am I doing something wrong? Need advise/opinions. |
If it works for them and makes them happy, then I'd say it's fine. My biggest concern is if they were to get a napoleon complex and try to jump out and hurt themselves. I know you said they've been staying put, but you know yorkies and how random and how "tough dog" they can be! They are really cute in their little bassinet though :D |

I have a travel bassinet for our travel trailer, and it has a zipped screen, top. My girls sleep in it, because it gets too cold on the floor. |
I agree as long as they don't jump out and they are happy, then why not. I use a pack n play for Brielle, it's lower and she cannot get out. She has slept in that every night since I brought her home in June. It works for us:) They are such pretty girls and look adorable in their new bed! |
I think whatever works for you and your girls is just fine. ;) |
That is so cute. If it works for you, fine but mine would never stay in it. I have a pen in my room for my dogs. It sort of looks like that but it's much deeper. So far my Yorkie was the only one that was able to jump out of it. My Shorkie and my shih tzu haven't made the attempt yet. As a matter of fact one day Zach my Yorkie jumped out of the pen and landed on his nose giving him a bloody nose. I would try to find a mesh cover for it just in case. |
My mom does this for her pug and they both sleep better. If not then she jumps up on the bed and lays on my moms chest and then my mom cant breath. she has trained suzie to jump into her arms when she gets up in the morning Other then that she will not even stand up in it |
Thanks. So far, they only jump to the bed. This morning Tia wanted daddy to pick her out of the bassinet and Ally jumped onto the bed and snuggled beside my pillow and comforter. She didn't want to get up! lol There is only one side for them to jump to the floor. If they even attempt it, I will either get a pack n play or put them back in their kennels for safety. I thought this one was a play pen (lowered), but it doesn't change heights. The only downsides I can see is that it will be harder to clean because it's fabric (instead of plastic kennels we clean weekly) and I am totally blocked in on my side of the bed. It makes the bedroom look a little cleaner without the two kennels in the room too. I'm pretty sure that both did grieve, but mil was only here for two weeks. She didn't go upstairs at all. The girls slept in their kennels for one week downstairs with me, beside the couch. Last night Tia was anxious for me to put her in the bassinet, which is a big change. It might just work! P.S. Sorry for my misspelling. Having a horrible day. |

Such beatiful little girls:) I think it looks adorable! So sweet. |
They're so cute in there.:) |
It looks like they really enjoy it, and as long as the don't try to jump out it seems like a great idea!! BTW I have the same comforter!!! :D |
ah, so cute and cozy looking. Could you cut out a "door" at one end with some pet steps going up to it? That way if they decided to jump out they'd use the door instead. Or do you like them contained at night (our dogs' night beds are plastic crates, originally we started using them so they would be contained for safety and also so they couldn't get out and left us a poopie to step on first thing in the morning, now they love sleeping in them - at night only, won't get in them during the day) Anyway, love the bassinette idea, it's very cute. And our Yorkies are our babies that's for sure! |
I just wanted to say your girls are so adorable. On a funny note Daisy is sitting here on my desk and kinda looked like she was looking at the pics and she looked at me with this look like don't even think about it. lol:p |
They look so CUTE in there! They look very happy and content! If it works and you are happy and they are happy then do it! I got Pnut a Pack N play! He stays in there when DH and I are at work! Somtimes it might look silly, ( buying a pack n play or bassinet for our dogs) but we have to do what we have to do!! Im sorry to hear about your MIL. Hang in there!! |
