Yorkie Rescue in my area I'm new here, but absolutely love my Morkie. I have been looking for a teacup Yorkie as a little sister or brother to my morkie, Timmy. I would love to rescue a little one that has a bad home, but don't find any rescue sites in my area of New York State. I do see "Rehoming fees", but those prices seem more like "selling" fees than a rehoming one. I have a wonderful and loving home where my baby, Timmy, reigns supreme and have plenty of love for a small Yorkie that needs it. It would seem that if a Yorkie needs rescuing, a loving home would be a priority. I, too, would have vet fees because the little one would most certainly see my vet as soon as possible for a complete physical. There are Yorkie scams out there where people offer Yorkies for a rehoming fee...and the horror stories of being ripped off of 400 or more isn't something I'm going to fall for. So, if you know of a teacup Yorkie who needs a good home in the Southern Tier of NY State, please keep me in mind. Anyone will tell you that my love for dogs is greater than it is for people. My dogs aren't spoiled. They are loved. :) |

You can Rescue..just be careful.. Hi Karole, I recently found myself in the same dilemma. However I did find alot of yorkie rescues in the NY area, they were too far away for a home visit and such. The prices do seem steep (sometimes) for rehoming, especially when you are talking about 400-500 dollars for an older, or chronic ill yorkie. I do understand why, but had difficulty at this time to spend that, when I already have elderly yorkies at home, needing medical attention. I know the vets costs are steep, which is why the rehoming fees are the way they are. Understandable. I still felt the need to give a yorkie or mix a good home anyway. I checked into fostering a pet and that seems like a really great thing to do. I do know that I will be doing that in time, and look forward to it. However, I have kept my eyes on all of the classifieds and checked my tri-state area repeatedly for pets in the shelters. They DO show up in shelters in various areas. In fact New Jersey seems to recieve yorkies more often than I thought possible. So keep your eyes out for that. I found 3 yorkies in my local classifieds in the past few weeks...2 were free...and a yorki-poo was $200. So keep looking, and dont give up. I just brought home an un-spayed yorkie girl who is 1 1/2 years old! She was "free to a good home" and listed as "not fixed" I feared she would be scoffed up and used as a breeding dog, so I called immediately. So I definately feeled like I "rescued" her!! :-) WooF! Be VERY VERY Careful of the "too good to be true" ads out there, but once in a while, one pans out. The Camaroon yorkie scammers are out there, and they LOVE Craigs List...so just use some caution and never send money unless you do the research first. I understand your need to HELP and to REHOME...keep looking and you will find the perfect situation. |

Don't feel bad I never knew there were no teacup yorkies until I joined yt. That advice that. Vsecret was right on the mark because I got sucked into a cameroon scam and I wasn't smart enough to see through it. Bottom line I ended up spending $3700 and learned a very hard lesson about scams. |
Yes, there are scammers out there. So, the little fella/lady must be close by so that my husband and I can see it and I would NEVER send money first....sure sign of a scam. |
