Julie is always acting like she is hungry. Any ideas? My little Julie is always acting like she is starving. She thinks she needs to eat all of the time. This just started about two weeks or so ago. If she goes potty, she thinks she needs to eat. If she smells food we are eating or cooking, she goes nuts trying to get to you so she can eat some. I do not feed her any table food. They all get boiled ground chicken on top of there Blue Buffalo kibble.I only give her about 1 teaspoon of chicken with about a 1/4 cup kibble. I feed them 2 times a day.If I cook a meal she runs around the kitchen, looking for food. She is always burping. When she burps she acts like something comes up in her mouth. Now, every time I put her in the car ,she vomits. She has never had this problem. She has always just sat in her car seat, sleeping or just looking around. Now, We do not even get 2 miles and she throws up. Poor baby. I do not know what to do about her getting sick in the car. I first thought if I do not feed her she will be better. She vomited bile all over her seat. The next time I feed her, She vomited all over her seat. I thought maybe it was her car seat. I put her on a blanket on the seat. With in 5 minutes she got sick. I have a appointment at the vet Tuesday. She acts happy, not sick at all.She is getting a big tummy. I bet she has gained at least a pound. Her last vet visit in late December she was 4lbs 5 oz. I bet she is over 5 and a half lbs. Also when all 6 are eating, Julie is tryng to eat, so she can go eat whats left over.I will not let her eat their left overs. At first I would let her finish up the little bit of kibble, But once I noticed what was going on I stopped. I do not know if she has reflux or what. Any one have any ideas.Could it be a food allergies? She has always had the belching. Thanks for any ideas. |
This make me suspicious of a hormone/glandular issue, like diabetes, cushings, or a thyroid problem. |

I see you have six furbabies, is she spayed? Could there be a chance she is pregnant? My girl loves car rides but when she was pregnant ANY car ride made her sick! She ate like crazy too! |
I am glad you have vet appointment. That is best. Poor puppy sounds like my guys... I free feed so they have kibble but they do go crazy when I am cooking. I often boil the chicken scraps (trimmings) cut up and feed as treats, or I may "drop" a carrot or two so I am sure it behavior learned. But I have often thought she is a little too intense. I did have the vet check her before being spayed and everything was fine. I hope the same for you... it just maybe a stomach upset? Lets hope:p |
I would have her checked for pancreatitis as well. I hope she is better soon. |
Intestinal parasites would be an easy rule out. I'd take a stool sample. Hypothyroidism comes to mind as well as EPI (which is highly unlikely, esp. without a lot of diarrhea issues). Is she losing hair? Peeing or drinking more? |
My little one was doing the same thing a couple of weeks ago, so I called his nutritionist and found out that I was UNDER feeding my baby!!!!! I felt like such a bad mommy!!! He was losing weight too... As soon as I amped up his food, he perked up and started gaining weight. I just have to feed him 5 small meals a day because he's got chronic pancreatitis and IBD. If he eats too much at once he'll throw up... |

Thank you for all of the great information. Is it possible to have cushing's but not have the thirst, and urination problem. I hope the snow and ice passes us by tomorrow so she can go to the vet tomorrow. I will take a urine/ stool sample along as well. Thanks again |
I would certainly be concerned about a health problem if this is a change in regular behavior and I am glad you are going to see a vet and get to the bottom of this. If everything checks out at the vet you can try adding low calorie veggies like green beans to her food- this way she feels like she is getting more to eat then she really is. I used this trick when I need to get some weight off of Armani but didn't want him to feel like he was being deprived. |
