Separate dishes for dogs Do you use separate feeding dishes for your dogs? I keep food available constantly for Bella, as she never eats more than a bite or two at a time. With the new baby coming, just wondering would it be best if he had his own food dish? They will be eating the same food, I HOPE. LOL |
We've always had separate dishes for our dogs. I actually keep Shadow's food in her pen with the door open. The other two dogs are too big to fit, otherwise they would eat her food. |
I think I will get Jett his own set of dishes, don't want any jealousy to come about!! Thanks jojo |
I have one dish for the kibble (free feed) that all three eat from. It is funny because I will see them wait their turn.. but... when I give extras such as boiled chicken I have three dishes and I stay and watch until they are done. They are not food agressive but don't want to chance it. |
Feeding Sprocket is a picky eater, so I am very watchful about how much he eats to make sure he is eating, also I worry about him not drinking enough water, we have some really crazy weather spells and he just pants and pants, I think he hasn't had enough water but I change the water in his dish all the time, making sure I know how much is gone. As for the feeding, I just use regular clear dishes the pryrex (sp) ones, I got 3 different ones at the DAV store for about $1 total. One for free feed, the dry kibble, one for water and one for natures balance or what ever he is eating at that meal. Being the brand they are dog can't hardly break them, I can see how much he really does eat and I can throw them in the dish washer every night. This to me is a big winner especially the dishwasher part, I fuss about things being cleaned up, I know OCD  on top of being the crazy dog lady. Anyway hope this helps. |
I have one bowl down of kibble and one bowl down of water. Both Lil Bit and Beamer (and any foster dog) eat out of the same bowl. If they were on different foods I would feed them separately, but they eat the same food. I free feed them, so food is always available for them. |
I have 2 girls Bridget who is a little "fluffy", and Greta who is a perfect weight. I use one for each of them for their meals when I'm feeding wet or chicken breast, and I watch them - mostly because Bridget would definitely eat Greta meal and Greta would just let her do it - and she certainly doesn't need it. When there is an occassion when I feel I need to leave kibble down - I use just one plate, and there is usually food left on it when I get home. They also share a water bowl. |
When we only had two Yorkies we had two bowls for their food...they determined which one they wanted, I didn't care who ate out of which one (the bowls are identical same food, same amount)...but if there's only one dog in the kitchen when I put down the food and the one eats all from her bowl with the other bowl FULL right next to her...and she wants more she will bark until I put down more in HER bowl, completely ignoring the other full bowl. Both of them do that. I think it's funny, but they want THEIR bowl. |
My boys are eaters and I like to know exactly how much they eat, so we have separate dishes. Max likes routine. When we added our second Yorkie, it helped Max to maintain his sense of routine. |
gatsby and both fosters eat out of separate bowls in separate rooms because my one foster is fat and my other is under weight and Gatsby is perfect. they do share a water bowl |
