Animal Planet Show - It's Me or the Dog
 
I just watched a rerun episode of the It's Me or the Dog show on Animal Planet. The title is "Widget & Gizmo". It's about two kidnapped yorkies. They were left in the car and some guy smashed the window and kidnapped them. Good thing they were found a few days later. However, they used to be sweet dogs but now very aggressive toward strangers. It's heartbreaking to watch. I can only imagine what they went through to be so traumatized. Anyway, it's a happy ending and the dog trainer is able to help. Don't know if any of you have seen that before but if you ever come across it, you should watch it.

Love Victoria. :D She trains positive reinforcement methods which I am totally for.

I hate to hear about all these little pups being stolen.:( It is heartbreaking, but at least they got them back.

I saw this episode a while back -- they were very cute! And I like how Victoria handled them. :)

If you missed it, there was a brand new episode on Saturday about two yorkies, one was pretty aggressive. Norman and something...

I saw that episode with Norman ( and the other dogs name is escaping me). The couple fought the whole time. I ended up turning it off!

I watched the stolen yorkies episode yesterday. Although I was in and out of the room and missed some things, I really loved it. I'm going to try that with my two little front-door barkers!

You can only imagine what happened to those two babies to make them change like that. It just breaks my heart!

I havent seen it. I think Victoria does great with training but I do not like her opinions about certain things.

I don't either. I hate when she talks about nutrition... I really don't think a trainer (unless experienced and certified in nutrition, but even that...) should talk about canine nutrition. You are a trainer!! Just do your job and don't suggest anything else. She also often makes owners throw away dog clothes, toys, etc, which is kind of irritating.

I roll my eyes when she makes everyone throw out the doggie wardrobe, but I do agree with her on a lot of the training.

The clothes thing is what kinda of turned me off of her because unless you have a dog that you have sat and watched shake because they are so cold you couldnt understand the necessity of clothes. I also figure if I'm gonna have to dress her to keep her warm it might as well be cute and go with the holidays :D.

:D Exactly! I just don't see the big deal about dressing your dog. I don't usually do it for no reason... meaning he wears layers when it's freezing cold outside, but I don't put shirts on him in the summer, etc, but I do dress him up for holidays! But my whole thing is... as long as the dog gets to be a DOG, then it's fine with me. And as long as it's not hurting the dog. What I don't like to see is dogs that are carried around in purses, not allowed to walk, and dressed every day, but never allowed to go for a walk, romp around, etc. I see where Victoria is coming from, but she goes over-board making them throw away everything.

I only dress Callie at night in the summer time because our house has great ac :D otherwise she is running around naked laying outside sunning. Its hard to carry her in a carrier at 16 pounds but I do have a stroller because at dog expos that are really crowded she will stand scratching on my leg to pick her up and after an hour 16 pounds gets heavy plus it gives me a place to put all the goodies I get and her water and stuff but all other times she normally walks.

I do not watch it often but I have occassionaly. I have never seen an episode where she had then throw away their clothes. I would disagree with that one. If we are going to the store or it is cool outside then mine are wearing something. I enjoy dressing them and it does not stop them from zooming in the back yard or anything else that they seem to want to do. Dressed or not they act the same.

I definitely love the positive training though.
