E-mail scam
 
Just got this e-mail headed:

AKC REG, LITTLE FEMALE YORKSHIRE TERRIER READY FOR SALE


I got your e-mail address from an email surfing marketing company with US Chamber of Commerce, My name is Nelson a breeder i have a little Female Yorkshire Terrier for sell she is such a cute baby and 8 weeks old. she is AKC REGISTERED, has had her shots started and wormings done, Should be 4 to 5 pounds full grown. and her health is %100 ok! Confirmed by my VET.
If you are interested in buying my pup, i will be happy by providing you more informations

about her

The problem with stringing them along is that once you have emailed them back, they then know you received the email and it's a legitimate address. They can sell this address to other companies. Secondly, unless you have a really great virus program, you may make them angry, and they might send you ugly virus. I actually don't think you waste as much time as they waste yours, because most have prewritten responses to various situations. Jodi did play someone along, but it was a little different, because this was a member of Yorkietalk, and she wanted to be sure he was a scammer. Seriously there are thousands of different companies that do this, and unless you can get the police involved where they actually catch the guy as he goes to pick up the money, I think it's a huge waste of your time. That's the best "mother" advice I have, so I leave it up to you to decide. :D

You are right. The address isn't on my "approved" list so the e-mail was in my "unknown senders", and he would have got a "challenge" e-mail from Choicemail asking for a reason to contact me. So he already knows it is a valid e-mail address, but that my mailbox was "protected" and his message wasn't accepted.
Replying to it would be a mistake now that I really think about it.

Lol, I'm such a buzz kill aren't I? If you do it, just make sure your virus protection is armed and ready!

I have good virus protection, but I still think it best just to ignore the e-mail after thinking about it.

Even if you are a buzz kill :D that is a lot of good advice!!! I would like to know how they got her email.. was it from YT or anther source -- that would be my concern. Internet scams are so sick-- but I guess like the TSA they are a fact of life now. At least we have buzz killers to keep us on the right path :thumbs up

I don't know where they got it. My e-mail address is out there on the net I know and I do get a lot of spam - which is why I have Choicemail - but this one was puzzling as it was Yorkie specific.

My dad is from Colombia, and I know, you cannot register a pupppy AKC over there!! that should be just 1st red flag!!! Ugh! it gets on my nerves to know, there will be someone out there who actually falls for this!! you should string him along to see what he does....

I don't know that he is from Colombia - but there have been a lot of scams from "missionaries" from Colmbia selling Yorkies that basically did not exist.
I decided not to string him along and I am just going to ignore the e-mail.
