How to Keep Water Out of Ears? I always try to groom Harley as rarely as possible because I am always worried about water getting into his ears. I always make sure I stick my finger in each ear when I rinse him down but I still worry. I also clean out his ears with q-tips right afterwards too to get the moisture out. I also worry about the shampoo getting into his eyes and him licking it off his muzzle while I'm rubbing it in and rinsing it. |
WIth the water Im not sure - But I always keep their ears facing down so nothing goes *down* the ear... And with it getting in their eyes.. Im not much help either, as I only use baby shampoo, and when I don't use that I use Dawn and only use it from their neck down... sorry! |
I put cotton balls in Chewy's ears, I don't know how effective it is but I have not had any problems so far. I think using a shower nozzle will help cut down on water in the ears, too. |
Yea, I also tip his face down when I rinse so the water won't just flow down in his ears. He doesn't like it very much though!! lol |
I use a tearless shampoo on Chloe and Lacey's face and took the advice of someone on this site about just pulling their ears over and holding it down while rinsing. It works like a charm. I rinse one side and then the other. Usually if you notice an odor from your yorkie, it is because of something around the face area, ears, nose, mouth, etc. so you might want to wash this area often. I take a warm moist cloth and wipe my girls' faces daily, as well as brush their teeth. They get an overall bath weekly and are groomed monthly. |
You can use cotton balls or just tilt their head and hold a cloth over the ear.I dont pour water over their heads I use a wet cloth to like splash it on . |

I use an ear cleaner that gets rid of ear wax as well as excess moisture. I also use baby shampoo, just in case she decides to eat some of the bubbles. Maggie is almost a year old and have never had an ear problem or soapy bubble poop. |
The first time I bathed him I tried the cotton balls in his ears but they just soaked up a ton of water! lol |
