thank you all Well I took my lil boy to the vet and he said he suspected parvo, and around mid day my baby passed on, so now I have none...how long should I wait to get another? And I wiped my whole house with bleach, does any one have advise on how to completely get rid of any trace of parvo in my home. And once again thank u all for the support. |
I am sorry for your loss. I think you should spend some more time researching what makes a good breeder and the care required for the breed. You can also spend this time saving money to put away for vet care. |
That poor baby. I'm so sorry for your loss. |

The above is what I would suggest also. Yorkies can go downhill very quickly. When symptoms like what you described start (for any dog), they do need to see a vet immediately and it isn't good to put it off until morning...or until it gets worse. Study up on vet care requirements some more before getting another one b/c I'd hate to see you go through this again. :( |
I'm so very sorry for your loss. You are in my thoughts and prayers. |
I'm very sorry for your loss. |
I'm so very sorry. That should never have happened. I agree to do a lot of research on good breeders and, also, to save money for vet care or emergency care. |
I'm sorry for your loss. Please don't rush out and buy another dog right away. Dogs aren't replacable, like a pair of shoes. Take your time and do your research on what makes a breeder reputable. Are you in Lakewood, California? If so, please research the puppy lemon laws in the state. Parvo can live on surfaces, including fabrics, rugs, the bottom of your shoes, etc. for up to 6 months. 1 bleach treatment may not be enough. I would wait for quite awhile before bringing home another dog, and then I might consider only bringing in an older one that had been fully vaccinated. |
I am so very very sorry for you. I kept checking your post to see if there was good news. My heart goes out to you |

This is such heartbreaking news. I am so very sorry for this poor little puppy. If only..... |
I'm very sorry to hear about the little guy. It's tragic for something like this to happen. Having two other dogs, you have to be worried now about their welfare. Short of a definitive diagnosis, you'll have to assume it was parvo. With you having the pup less than a week, it should be assumed that your pup came to you with this disease. This would place the responsibility squarely on the breeder. You likely are protected under California's puppy lemon law. Here's a link with the text of the law.......Getting a Dog Tips - California's Puppy Lemon Law The only way I can see where it might not apply is this part... " (b) Every breeder of dogs shall comply with this article. As used in this article, "dog breeder," or "breeder" means a person, firm, partnership, corporation, or other association that has sold, transferred, or given away all or part of three or more litters or 20 or more dogs during the preceding 12 months that were bred and reared on the premises of the person, firm, partnership, corporation, or other association." It seems that those that sell less than 3 litters a year are exempt? Sounds like a loophole easily manipulated by shady breeders. The link says the provisions are current as of 2004. Anyone know of any revisions since then? IMO, parvo should be treated as a public health concern (though not to humans) as it is so easily spread. This breeder could cause a lot of harm....not only to her dogs, but to others dogs, if this remains unchecked. You should not keep quiet about this. Get your documentation from the vet and follow through with this. Again, very sorry for your loss. I urge you to see your vet immediately about the risks to your other dogs. |
I am so very sorry for your loss. Parvo is such a scary thing. I would also like mentioned above, research for a reputable breeder. Save for vet care and look into things like pet insurance. Yes, it may be expensive but it is totally worth it when something unexpected comes up. I had Taycie covered before I even brought her home. It would be so worth it so you wouldn't have to go through this again. |
