Premium Food Suggestions Bella is at the end of her "Royal Canin-Yorkie" food. We would like to put her on new food as she has never eaten this with any enthusiasm. Vet recommended it, but I would like to know if there are better foods available to insure she is getting the BEST nutrition. I know there is probably a "food review" thread somewhere, but I haven't been able to locate it. Any insight you could give as to what is the BEST for our little yorkie would be greatly appreciated.:aimeeyork |
When I switched from RC I switched to NOW! there are a lot of really good foods out there, personally I look for anything that has absolutely no bi-products and is grain free. To add some more nutrients I also feed Trippet (canned beef tripe) twice a day. I'll look around and see if I can find that post you're looking for. |
http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...e-samples.html I think this is it. |
We have been really happy using the raw diet, specifically, Nature's Variety raw medallions. I also feed Stella & Chewy's raw patties and Primal's raw nuggets, but my guys definitely prefer Nature's Variety. Vinnie has been eating Nature's Variety for about 7 years now and it has really been a wonderful food. Not cheap, but I figure that it has gone a long way to keeping him healthy, which saves money in vet bills. :-) |

I once fed my cocker spaniels Primal nuggets. I used it as a supplement since it didn't last very long. I looked on Nature's Variety's website and found that the 5 pound bag has 48 medallions in it. Does this last you the whole month or are you using it as a supplement/treat? |
Orijen and Acana, are made by the same company, and are excellent foods. Go! and Now! are also wonderful foods ^^ as noted above. Nature's Variety, Taste of the Wild, Wellness, Fromm, etc, etc. If you are shopping at Petsmart, I'd recommend Castor & Pollux. |
'Go! Now' is a great food - our two love it. I also agree that Orijen is a really good food. |
I have been feeding Taste of the Wild food for the past two plus years. My guys are doing great on this food. |
I'm trying to slowly switch Zoe from Royal Canin Puppy 33 to Halo Spot's Stew. It looked good to me, but I'm not an expert on what's good for these little yorkies. Any thoughts on Halo? |
Sophie loves her Wellness small breed kibble. She even likes it as a treat in her kong. She also likes the Mother Hubbard baked treats that are also made by Wellness. You can google Wellness to see all the ingredients they are made from. |
