How much walking? I was wondering how long do fellow YT members take their babies for walk? Is 30 minutes too short? I was pondering about this and thought I see what others do. So, how long do you walk your babies for? How long does it take for them to TIRE out? :D THANKS! |
I take my dogs out for 5 mile runs and they are ready for more. Just not too long ago I took my two for an 11 mile hike! They were pulling on the leash till the very end. I'm guessing it would take quite a bit to tire my two out. |

I try to take them on two 20-30 minute walks a day. Just be sure you don't overdo it with a dog that isn't accustomed to it. I think mine would struggle if I dropped a 5-mile run or 11-mile hike on them out of the blue. But if we worked up to it, that would be fantastic. |

I just started a thread about walks the other day :) http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/gen...ily-walks.html Jackson typically goes for a 1 hour walk per day (all at the same time). The farthest we've walked at one time is about 5 miles and he did that easily... and came home and was still ready to roll. A 1 hour walk will tire him out and he'll sleep for about 2hrs coming home... but walks definitely don't do as much for him as running, or swimming, or other strenuous activity. He gets a 2hr dog park visit about once a week where he runs a TON, and he gets to go to my dads huge fenced in yard with his 2 dogs about 2-3x per week where, again, he runs like crazy! And in the summer, he swims a whole lot! |
