Hey everyone!! long time no chat!I have a question.. First of all I would like to say Hello to everyone, Forgive me Yorkie talk for I have sinned.. It has been over 6 months since my last post! I have been super crazy.. But As soon as I had a question I knew right where to go. Ok so Chloe has a huge nasty rash on her lady parts. She acts as if it doesn't bother her and runs and plays normally.. but when shes in "down time" or at night in bed, She just is constantly chewing or licking herself. ..I wanted to put some sort of cream or something on it but im sure she'll lick it right off and don't want a bigger problem on my hand from her digesting anything bad. its Has anyone had this happen before? I was gonna post a picture...but wasn't sure if that was necessary..lol any advise is welcome.. trying to avoid a vet visit if possible but If necessary obviously Ill just do that. thanks guys!!:D |

Yeah lol a vet would probably give me a good assessment... I just figured id ask if this has happened with anyone else, And if so how it was handled.. Im sure its nothing serious, As she started licking /chewing not to long after a grooming appt. and she was shaved in that area.. So the area is just inflamed from licking.. and shes actually created the rash (kinda like when a kid licks around there lips and it gets a rash.) the local vet is closed this weekend and monday is a holiday so just wanted to avoid urgent care (since im sure its not necessary) and want to provide her with a little relief.. SOOOO Anyone that has had this kinda thing that can speak from experience on any remedies? |
Okay generally speaking, Oatmeal shampoo Biogroom makes one, might help to ease a razor burn. After shampooing rinse really really well, and blow dry, you don't want her rubbing a wet butt on the floor. You could also use a gentle saline wash, like 1tsp to 1 quart of luke warm water, and rinse area throughly. then blow dry |
Thanks:D I will try the saline and see if that helps. |
Maybe try some corn startch baby powder. It's good for quieting a rash that itches. Poor baby. Don't let the groomer use ele. clippers on her bottom anymore. |
I don't remember you having her spayed. Did you? If not, when was her last heat? There are several things that come to mind, such as, possibly pyometra, a yeast infection, or eczema. These are just some guesses. |
can you put a onesie on her so she can't get to the irritated area? |
This type of rash sounds like a uterus infection. I would get her to the vet for some antibiotics, you can also use Desitin ointment (diaper rash). Our vet recomemded this when Lola was red around her tush. You need to put an ECollar on her so that it can heal without her licking....Good Luck |
