Do you use a hair dryer, forced air dryer or towel dry? I have always used a regular hair dryer set on the lowest heat setting to dry my dogs. But I have been reading alot about how bad the heat is for a yorkies hair and skin. I have noticed that Lizzy & Cutter both seem to have dry skin with some signs of dandruff at times. Maybe I'm a little slow (lol), but I just recently discovered that the dryer my groomer uses is actually only blowing air, not heat. This of course after they have been in with the cage dryer for a bit. I have priced these forced air dryers and find them to be quite exspensive. By the way, both of my dogs HATE the hair dryer, which is another reason I was considering the forced air dryer. It seems that with the long hose attachment that most of the noise is in the tank of the dryer and not right in the ear as with a regular hair dryer. Does that make any sense? I would just be interested to hear some feedback on what others are doing and using. |
I use an ionic hair dryer set on low for my yorkies and I condition them after shampooing. So far, I have not had any problems with dry skin and hteir coats are always shiny. |
I use a normal hair dryer on the lowest setting to dry both of my girls after a bath...we have never experience any dry skin other than the normal that comes with the weather...but it is interesting to hear what others use!! :animal-sm |
we use a regular hair dryer no dry skin or anything we use hair dryer for our other silky for 10 years and he was fine |
Schatzie too receives the hair blower on low setting. I spray leave-on conditioner throughout the drying process and have not noticed any skin problems. |
Well for Bouncer it depends on if I bathe him at home or if I am giving him a bath one day while at work (I work in a groom shop). At home I use an Iconic Ceramic hair dryer on the lowest heat setting (sometimes I use the cool setting) and on the highest speed while brushing his coat out. At work, I usually force dry him a bit then put him in the crate with the dryers on him, unless I'm in a hurry then I'll just use the hair dryer on him at work as well. But I use Tropiclean Oxy-Med conditioner on him during his bathe and haven't had a problem with dry skin since. |

Stewie has dry, sometimes flaky skin. I heard you're not supposed to use a blow drier for that, so I started to just towel dry him and hold him afterward. |

I used to use the hair dryer in a low settings but she gets terrify, so now i just towel dry. Well I try to towel dry because she always runs away and rubs her body all over the furnitures, wall, floors etc. and air dries. lol |
I use a regular hair dryer, but mine has a blue button on it that makes the air cool. It may take a little longer to get her totally dry, but I am too afraid to use heat because I do not want to burn her little skin. It seems to do the trick. |
