Ready to find a sister! Well... It looks like it's time for me to begin the search for a sister for Bri. We really lucked out with Bri, so i'm hoping to find another sweet baby. We aren't looking to actually purchase until June, but I wanted to start the research early. I just have a question! When did you know you were ready to get another one? What do I need to do to prepare Bri? Any advice is appreciated!!! Thanks! |
I would say if you have any doubt about getting another one, then maybe the time isn't right. Only you can answer that one. ;) I can say though, I'd never have just one. Dogs are social animals and do best in a pack. They play, they fight, but isn't that just like kids. They do keep each other company when the moms and dads are out of the house, and I think that's a big plus. |
It can sometimes take a couple days for them to adjust to the new addition but in my experience they end up just loving eachother!!! Its always nice that they will have eachother to play and snuggle with if your busy or gone. Two is always better then 1 ;) Congrats on deciding to get your new addition and when the time comes, cant wait to see pics! :) |
We have the equivelant of 32 Yorkies with Carlo, and they get along great. The Yorkie is the boss! You just know when you are ready to add. Just remember, 3 or more is not as cheap as one. Have a cushion handy for whatever can come up. Best of luck. The YTCA is a good place to start your research and search. |
Thanks! I had serious doubt a few months ago because my little girl is really attached. She didn't do well around other dogs at all. However lately, she has been more social and seems a little bored. I think she's finally reaching the point I wanted her to be. I'm almost positive we will get a girl though. I'm not sure if I'd want a boy. I have heard girls tend to fight a little. I guess that's why I have time to research! I just hope Bri doesn't get mad!! |
We started out with 2 Bassets last year and I can honestly say I was never prepared for another dog. Somehow between December 2009 and December 2010 we ended up with 5 dogs ready or not. We now have 2 Bassets, 1 Yorkie, 1 Shorkie, and 1 Shih Tzu and I still don't know how this happened but we were lucky and everybody gets along really well. We had no problem with any of them. Maybe a little jealousy but very little. |
We recently lost one of our yorkies and are contemplating getting another one. Our five year old "Kallie" just doesn't seem to be adjusting. Looking for a good breeder. |
