Just plain RUDE! Wow, how rude is that? I always have a leash on Calleigh. I'm sure I would have been shocked as well. I haven't experienced anything like that. Most normal people will ask before reaching out to pat a dog. I don't know what I would have done. I would probably have been stunned just like you. Thank God she didn't drop your little baby. What a loser! |
This post makes me laugh about the stupidity of people and what they think they can do. I totally agree that it's really rude to touch anyone's dog without asking. The worst thing I ever experienced was when an older woman came up to my daughter when she was seven months; she asked how many teeth she had and then instantly put her hands in her mouth to check!:eek::eek: I was completely stunned and just quickly walked away with my daughter - I don't put anything past people now and only wished I had given her a good response but I was too freaked out! |
That almost happened to me, once. My DH & I had our girls in our arms in Petsmart, and a lady came up, and started talking to my tiny Kia, who I had in my arms and she tried to take her out of my arms, and I had her held, very snug, tightly in both arms against my chest and I said, "Excuse me???" She hadn't said a word to either my DH or me.:eek::eek: What is with people these days???? |
I know this is mean but when I had Joey at Petsmart and he was very young I had him in my arm wrapped in a blanket and a lady walked up with a little boy and she reached over and petted him and was trying to pick him up saying, Oh look Brian at the cute little puppy...I reacted by pulling away, then I said Oh, my this little guy has a terrible infection and it is transmitted to humans....you should wash immediately, she then put her hand on the boys head and I said oh, he also has mites and they transfer to.....so sorry, you should ask before you pet an animal,, I turned around and left....I know this was mean but at the time I didn't care...I felt she invaded my space and it made me mad that she just reached over to pet my baby....much less trying to pick him up... |

That woman's actions was crazy. :thumbdown:thumbdown Good that it did not happen to me, you handled it much better then I think I could or would have!! |
Wow!!! I don't know for sure what I would have done, but it probably would not have been very nice :D I can't believe how rude people can be! I would have been livid. I had a mother let her young toddler come running right up to Rozi at petsmart once, but one look from me while he was en route, and she called him back to her, LOL. I was ready to swoop down and pick her up, but gave this woman a dissaproving/pms/ don't you dare/ l@@k, and she knew it wasn't ok:) So sorry this happened to you and your baby :( |
Oh lord! Flashback time. When I had little baby Adie in for her puppy training a woman actually reached over the barrier and picked her up!!!! I was almost speechless I was so shocked! Of all the nerve. I think I just said that Adie was very attached to Mommy and insecure if someone else handled her and took her back. Another time a woman picked her up and dropped her! Need I say that while Adie loves Petsmart she does NOT like walking on a leash there. She wants to be carried. I am only too happy to do that for her. |
I just want to say that a lady did the exact same thing to me one day in a pet boutique and they took Teddi from me and then started shaking her saying "she is so cute"....she did it a few times and then handed her back and Teddi proceeded to barf right after (because the lady shook her up). It was horrible and the store owner said she couldn't believe the nerve of some people!! It all happened so fast I didn't know what was going on. |

If that had been Rizzo, he probably would have been dropped because when someone he doesn't know tries to pick him up and he starts to wriggle like a fish. Even when I'm holding him if someone reaches for him he freaks out. There is a certain way people have to reach to pet him and if I don't explain first he freaks out and starts to wiggle away. That lady would have been paying the vet bill for whatever damage he would have taken, and if she was lucky and he didn't get hurt she would have to endure an earful from me. How rude of her! |
That is just beyond rude and also scary. |
Not so much that people just take TicTac to hold her, but several instances (specially when I car travel) where people offer to "watch" her while I use the ladies room, etc. I NEVER, repeat NEVER allow this. I've gone to far as to get back into my car and drive to the next rest stop! I know I sound like I've lost faith in people, but I wouldnt allow a stranger to watch my children, and my last dog was stolen right out of our yard!!! Dashound. We still grieve the loss of Simon. You were remarkably calm to the woman that snatched up your baby. You had every right to go midevil on her. |
