Just noticed that Brooklyn's tail doesn't wag Brooklyn is a bubbly, hyper, happy girl. But, I realized that her tail doesn't wag... at all. It makes me wonder if docking her tail- which I TOTALLY disagree with, regardless of what breed standard and show people say- has damaged a nerve or something. I did a search and saw that some people's yorkies started wagging their tail at a certain age. Hmmmm.... wonder if my baby's tail doesn't work. Anyway, just an observation. She doesn't seem to notice one way or the other. :p |
Aww, poor baby. I've never heard of such a thing. I know I've seen some dogs that have a really short docked tail, like basically no tail at all, that I personally can't really tell if it's wagging or not. |
Teddy doesn't wag his tail at us either... He only wags at strangers and other dogs. |
Rhett's rarely wags, where as Scarlett's goes like a motor boat. |
I've never heard of this. Maybe it will wag eventually. She may just not be a tail wagger |
If it never wags at all, I'd wonder if it's the nerve leading to it. I had heard when vets do back surgery they can hit a nerve that could stop the wag. |
How old is Brooklyn, and how long has she been with you, I'm asking because Stellina's tail didn't wag for a while when we first took her home, can't remember how long before she started wagging it. You should see her today it looks like a feathery propellar lol |
Sammy is not a big tail wagger. Once in awhile he wags it alot and it's really cute when he does. |
Bridgets tail is so short I couldn't tell if it wags or not....literally from my tip of my finger to my first knuckle.....but she wiggles her butt if that counts! |

My Azrael will be 6 years on the 16th of this month and never once has she waged her tail, never! She can put it down or raise it up, but never a wag. :( |
I honestly don't know if Sugar's TAIL wags......but she wags her whole BUTT :D |
Thor only has a nub, so I grow the hair out as long as possible. I basically double the length. It was a nice surprise to see he does wag it, though not a ton. Also now that he can see it, he chases it. :D |

Chloe doesn't have a tail either, just a small nub that I can barely feel but she too wiggles her whole butt, her behind looks like its dancing. Too cute! |
Wow - I have never heard of that. Levi wags his nub all the time. I have a friend with an Aussie whose tail was docked wayyy too short, and he wags his whole butt. It is the cutest thing to see. Didn't realize there were dogs out there who couldn't/didn't ever wag. Maybe Brooklyn's will start wagging later. |
My Elsa is 1 1/2 yrs old and doesn't wag her tail that much either. Just a sway every now and then. An old joke about wagging tails goes like this: A young boy is afraid to pet a dog. An adult says, "He's friendly – look, he's even wagging his tail." The boy responds, "Yeah, but he's barking and growling – I don't know which end to believe!" Just thought I'd throw that in there...lol |
Too cute. |
Now that I'm looking at Zach my Yorkie really doesn't wag his tail that much either. He more or less wiggles his backside. Maybe it's a short tail thing because Zoe who is a shorkie and Oliver my shih tzu have long tails and they wag their tails so hard it looks like they are going to take off. |
I use to think something was wrong with Lizzy too, because she hardly wagged her tail. She wags more now, but I also kind of made it a "thing" to get her to wag her tail. I can usually get her to way, but often it is a slow kind of tick-tock kind of wag. Very cute though. Still, after two years, she isn't a big time tail wagger. Her tail is shorter than the tails I see in pics and the dogs at the one show I watched the yorkies at. I've wondered it that had anything to do with it. |
