Frozen Veggies Sometimes I feed my Auti brown rice and kidney beans when I'm making it for myself. I don't season it until its on my plate that way she doesn't have any seasoning. I would like to give her vegetables also but I tend to only buy frozen veggies every so often I will get fresh but with my budget frozen is a little cheaper. Is it ok to give her some frozen vegetables but of course cooked season-less? She loves the rice but I'm sure she'll get sick of it can I add a little bit of veggies? All input welcomed and thanks in advance... P.S I hope I'm not feeding her something she can't have (ie kidney beans) |
I don't know about kidney beans.:D I'd be careful and not give too many of those to a wee yorkie.:p Veggies are good for them. Here is a stickie to let you know which one's aren't: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...oods-dogs.html |
I give mine frozen green beans, peas, lima beans, cauliflower, brocoli, you name it...they like them frozen and cooked, I don't season them at all...You'll see a lot of peeps feed their furbutts veggies and fruits:D |

Levi loves his veggies and will eat them any way: fresh, cooked, or straight from the freezer. I keep many bags of fruits and veggies in my freezer and he gets a few every day. Some of his favorite veggies are carrots, green beans, and peas. He also loves apples, pineapple, and blueberries. |
Beans are all good for them, but not too much at a time since they are high in fiber and could cause some loose stools. Veggies are all good for them as well, but go easy with those as well. (No onions of course). Fruits are also good for them. Fresh or dried. All the berries are really great too. So enjoy feeding your baby real food, and you will see she isn't going to turn up her nose at meal time. ;) |
Hot Rod loves veggies...Maggie is just starting to eat some. Neither of mine like fruit too much though. I feed mine cauliflower, broccoli, peas, carrots, green beans, potato-white and sweet, squash, lima beans, peppers-skinless-yellow/red/orange, zucchini--just about any veggie you can think of he loves. Maggie has just started to eat them because Hot Rod will steal hers if she doesn't but she not overly crazy about them. |
Mine love carrots, green beans, cauliflower, apples, sweet potato and I give them a teaspoon of no fat yogurt or cottage cheese. |
Mine love carrots! I feed the frozen carrots and I cook them no seasoning just plain. I then chop it up and put it on top of their kibble. They LOVE it. |
I never thought of giving my dogs veggies or fruits. You see you learn something new every day on YT. |
Mine also love all the above veggies, plus baby bok choy & swiss chard. (the crunchy middle part). I also grind these (including the green leaves, plus carrots & broccoli to add to the cooked & ground red meat). Bok choy has vitamins A, C, K, calcium, potassium & manganese. Swiss chard has vitamins, A, C & K plus potassium & iron. For snacking they also love brussel sprouts, (I steam those) radishes, green beans, jicama, which they dearly love and we put in our salads every day as well. Here are the benefits of jicama: Vitamins A, C, D, E, K, B-6, B-12, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, folate, pantohenic acid, choline & betaine. |
Hello. I highly recommend feeding veggies! My baby loves broccoli. My whole family thinks it's weird that she loves veggies more than meat sometimes. ;) I buy the frozen veggies from Costco both for her and for me. It's so much easier to just come home and pop them in the microwave than having to wash, chop, steam, etc. The only thing I will not feed my baby are frozen baby carrots. I give them to her raw or cooked and chopped into small bits. I gave her frozen carrots before and she didn't chew on it as I thought. She ended up swallowing it whole and vomited it up later. After that scare, I decided never to give her frozen carrots. I did feed her frozen broccoli when she was losing her puppy teeth and she loved them, but I watched her like a hawk after the carrot incident. ;) |
Ours will eat almost any "people food". Some of their favorites are peas, carrots, rice, eggs, tomatoes, pickles (yes they love pickles...but only get little tiny tastes because of the sodium), potatoes, cheese, tuna.....I could go on and on. We put peas and carrots on their kibble every night. But most of the others they only get little bites of so we can control their weight. Fruits and vegies are good for them. |
I buy bags of frozen peas and carrots and give them to mine- I dont even cook them, I just run them under hot water for a second to defrost and viola! |
