stupid people! Close to my home is a walking/jogging track that U S Cellular built. Many people bring their dogs to walk with them. If a person goes the long way, it is really a large track that goes around the us cellular building that goes across the road or you can walk a short track just one side of the road with a sidewalk down both sides of the road. The road is a public road that a lot of people use. I use it every week night going home from work. Today, hubby and I were headed down it and we saw a woman stopped on the sidewalk. She looked like she was texting or something with an object in her hand. All at once her smaller dog ran towards the road and we almost hit it. It was NOT on a leash. The woman never looked up. We are sure it was her dog, cause it ran back to her. This was so stupid. |
I guess her dog is not her priority!!!!! |
You should have opened your door! |
I did have that thought, but hubby was driving. He would not have been happy. I started to roll down my window and ask if it was hers. When it started towards the car I yelled look out. Hubby sd I was more upset about the dog then I would have been if it had been an adult. I sd the adult would have been been stupid to do that and deserved to be hit. Dogs don't know that. |
Yeah sounds like she was more interested in her phone than her dog! I personally wouldn't take my dog outside without a leash...especially if it's an area with a road nearby! |
I would have stopped, called the dog officer, and then asked her why she had a death wish for her dog. In the summer I always see dogs that are by themselves just wandering around my neighborhood. My street is a busy street and parallel to my street is a highway. Why would anyone let there dog off their leash or out of their yards here? There is a farm on the other street parallel to mine and their dogs are constantly off on their own. They aren't nice either. They torment any dogs who they see. Twice last summer I saw the same chocolate brown lab run straight toward RT125 thank God it didn't get hit. Both times I called the dog officer. Once the dog was with another chocolate lab just playing in my yard. I had literally just brought my dog inside from walking him when my sister called me. She was at my grandparents house next door and had seen them. She asked if Lucas was out on the runner and I said no why? She replied that there were two dogs in our yard. Thank God I am too paranoid to ever let my dog be outside on a runner alone. I don't care if my mom thinks its fine because he can't get away (its chain because he chews through anything else even at 11 almost 12) but what about what comes into the yard? A couple of years ago a dog got hit literally in front of my house. Thankfully it was able to walk away from the accident. The dog had jumped the fence across the street and at the time my dog had a kennel outback that my grandfathr had built and the dog had decided to come visit. Well I heard my dog so I went outside and then the owner came to get the dog. He apologized and I said it was fine. Dogs get out sometimes I know mine has, hes a trained hunting dog following his nose is what he does. Well the owner didn't bring a leash he just walked him back. My dog was excited and a little out of control so I brought him on to the porch with me. My mom was pulling into the drive way and my dog started barking at my mom and the dog took off to come see my dog. A speeding teen in a large (and thankfully high) SUV sped by hitting the dog. I started bawling my eyes out. My neighbor (not the dog owner) took off on his motorcycle to find the guy as well as one of the dog owners ho had just pulled on to the street and saw the whole thing. It bothers me so much to see dogs running free. The only dogs I feel safe not being on leashes is one of my neighbors. I am super paranoid but I have actually pet sitted for them. These two shelties literally know exactly where the property line ends. They even get with in 20 feet of the road and they look guilty and if you say something they walk away and go into the yard. All of this woman's dogs have been like this. She never used an electric fence or anything. Other than that I have the dog officer's number on my phone and will call. They pick up the dog and I believe you have to pay a fine to get your dog back. If not then just having to go get your dog is a nuisance and teaches people. This woman would have learned a lesson if the dog officer fined her or took the dog to the pound where she had to go get it. |
I could not imagine letting my dogs run off leash like that! How irresponsible! :( |
