How Many Times Do Puppys Pee Oliver is 8 weeks old and it seems like everytime I change his wee wee pad he goes again. How many times do young puppies pee? I must go through 15 wee wee pads a day or maybe more. He only poops about 1 or 2 times a day. |
Puppies pee ALL the time... the pee pads can be used more than once.... it really isn't necessary to change them each time. You can also get washable peepads that can be washed (with a puppy maybe once a day) which may be less expensive..... I would get 2 or more so you can put one down while washing the other. It FEELS as if they pee an infinite amount of times, but really its probably around 10-15 times depending on your pup. When I'm playing with Teddy, he will go to his pee pad several times in an hour I think simply because he has access to one. When I crate him for three hours he is able to hold it and then he will just have one really long pee! Haha...anyways I think I'm a lot more amused by this than you probably are but either way, the previous poster is right you can keep using the disposable pee pad several times. I usually leave out one for about half the day and I pick up his stool and flush it (if its hard). If he has a soft stool then I just throw the pee pad away because I do not like him stepping on poo while peeing. |
sounds pretty normal to me....remember their bladder hasn't stretched out yet and they can't hold very much. As they grow and learn to hold it more they go less... My male 2yr old goes out 4 to 5 times a day... usually about every 4 hours...however when he is confined to the laundry room while I am at work, he will sometimes hold it until I come back home which is almost 9 hours, but sometimes I can see where he will go at least once during the day.....my daughters pom who is about 3.5 lbs needs to go out every 2-3 hours and will use the pad several times during the day while in the laundry room...Joey is about 12 lbs....guess it varies with each dog....goodluck and it will get better....I have learned also as they get older you don't have to change out the pee pads everytime they use it... they will go several times on it...Wishing the best to you and your little one |
I used to cut the pee pads in half. Less waste. He wees outside now; I think he goes fewer times now because he holds it? |
Be thankful he is using the pad...my adults see a new pad and force out some pee even if they have just wee'ed on the old one...it is a game to see who can be first on a clean pad. |
