Puppy Mills 1 Attachment(s) What do the members here think or believe constitutes a puppy mill?:aimeeyork Is it the number of puppies? Number of dogs used for breeding purposes? Conditions that the dogs are kept in? I just visited a site that sells its dogs all over the US. The dogs that are not currently breeding are kept in a steel building on a cold, cold concrete floor, in kennels. There were about 35+ adult dogs. Of the nursing moms and puppies, I found them just laying on a container under incandescent lighting (for warmth, I imagine). The puppies that were walking around just didn't seem right, at least not what I had experienced with my own little girl's pups. My own little girl Abbie-Gale had five baby girls in October and the last one has now left to her forever home. This was our first litter and I really had a great time watching them grow. They were raised in our home and pottytrained by the time they left. I am disappointed because I was looking for a boyfriend for my Abbie. |
What you described is a puppymill IMHO |
That sounds like a puppy mill. Isn't it sad, the lives these poor dogs have? They are only dollar signs to the breeders. |
What you described is heartbreaking to me. I usually try not to read these threads cause it disturbs me so bad. |
yes, cold, unloving, and greedy! they are just making money off the little animals, and could care l;ess about thier feelings. yes dogs do to have feelings. i;m 54 and been around dogs all my life. i come from a long line of dog lovers. you don't mistreat animals. that needs to be reported to the right authorities, shame on them! it really pisses me off, i'd be on the phone in a heart beat if i saw that. don't forget theres always people for the ethical treatment of animals, i think its called petta. |
puppy mills :unlove:I would love to report them, but in North Carolina there are no laws governing puppy mills. :aimeeyork They have to be sanitary and the ones I have visited appeared to be (of course you can only visit by appt. only). Comfort is all relative I guess and if the dogs are moving around and not visibly cowering and shivering then there is no proof of suffering. :( |

That sounds like a mill to me. Makes me sick. |
First of all no one has said welcome to YT! I have to agree with the others it sounds like a Puppy Mill which makes me heart sick. |
puppy mills THANKS for the welcome! I registered way back in Oct. when my Abbie was due to give birth. Now all the grand-puppies are gone  and we are experiencing empty nest syndrome. I am looking for a male pup since all of Abbie's were females. I want to thank you all for your opinion. My husband looks at these places as a business. For me it is a "hobby" to breed my dam, but for them it is their livelihood. I just do not get it. |
