Relocating potty pads to a new location Macy is potty pad trained. I have (2) potty pads....one in the dining room and one in the kitchen. She mostly uses the one in the dining room for some reason. The only thing is it's about 2 feet from the front door. Any suggestions on how I can wean her down to the one potty pad in the kitchen? I am thinking of every day moving the potty pad in the dining room a few inches at a time until it is close to the one in the kitchen and then do away with it. At that rate it is going to take me about (6) months moving a few inches at a time. Anyone else have this dilema? |
I had 2 pads for my 2 boys and I eliminated the second one last week. So far, so good. Granted, the pads were closer together than your set up. You could gamble and simply eliminate the pad in the dining room, or you could move the pad a few feet at a time. You don't have to do inches. My boys have proved versatile in where I put the pads. When I clean or have another reason to move the pads from one end of the great room (40 feet long) to the other, they go wherever the pad goes. Wishing you good luck. |
Thats exactly what you need to do |
...and make sure you praise, praise, praise and maybe add a treat for encouragement for correct potties. |
OK, we'll try a couple of feet at a time instead of inches and see how she does. Where does everyone else place their potty pads? Every location I can place a potty pad is by a door that is used. Not very enticing for company that doesn't have dogs. Nothing is more embarrasing than having a conversation with a friend and have your dog decide she needs to use her potty pad and pooh at that moment. Of course, if she poohed on the floor in front of your friend, that would be even worse. |
