Yep, we're "broke" now... At our Christmas gathering, my dad overheard me saying "we're broke now" and was so worried he pulled my mom aside to ask if we needed financial help . Too bad he did not hear the rest of the conversation which was me telling the family about not knowing how much having Rocky would be. From his original cost to teeth pulling, neutering, buying high quality foods, toys to grooming and sometimes puppy camp/boarding. And now as we speak, my DH is putting the finishing touches on a stairway from our back patio (which is 8 feet up) to the ground to make it easier for Rocky to get outside. I could have never guessed how much this little guy would have cost us, but it's been fun having him around. By the way, my mom has asked that I not be so "dramatic" when talking about Rocky's incurred costs, since we are not really "broke" |

Too funny....well...I have had my baby for 4 years now and I really am broke. Happen to be one of the millions of americans that lost my job in 2008, and still can't find a job. I say this because, though I am broke, my baby has pet insurance,,(I have none)..My baby got a brand new warm coat to travel to michigan for xmas,,(I borrowed one from one of my sisters), He goes to the vet for regular check ups and to keep current on shots,,(I have not been for a check up in 3 years),, He eats the best breed specific food,,(I can usually get by with a sandwich and salad - a nice frugal meal) In other words, my baby comes first always, and what ever he needs, without having any income what so ever...I find a way to make sure he has the best care I can give....and I would not have it any other way.:o |
:p I don't think I was prepared for how "broke" they can make you in a hurry. |
They may make us poor, but they make us rich in other ways. :) |
I have to agree. I have insurance now for Buster so hopefully that will help. I may have to go to a 12 step dog toy program. I just can not stop buying toys for him. He is so cute when he gets a new toy. But he was the best purchase I ever made. I agree he has the best because he is the best friend I could have ever have. |

I can sure relate to cowgirlc, Having Scooter and Sadie is the best thing that has ever happened to me but yes they are expensive. I have spent well over 1,000 dollars just for the vet in the three months I have had them both. Scooter came to me with Fleas, kennel cough and no shots. Sadie came to me needing shots and having fleas. Toys, beds, clothes, harnessess, leashes, food and treats and I am sure I am forgetting things. Like cowgirlc the dogs will go to the vet before DH and I go to the doc. When I brought them home from the vet the last time with the round worm DH said oh well I was gonna take you out to eat but I guess not now. We give up a lot for our fur babies but we feel it is well worth it. My babies are spoiled :littleangRIP Sophie Lynn Mommy loves and misses you |
LOL! :D I totally understand the expenses. It is just like having skinkids. Some people think having a small Yorkie is cheap because of the size...LOLOL! |
