Wow she was so dark I cannot believe how light she is getting , Daisy is 8.5 months now . The first picture was back in September @ 5 months. Wow big difference. http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...541109_n-1.jpg http://i218.photobucket.com/albums/c...daisy014-1.jpg |
I think she is beautiful! It is amazing how quick they change. |
What a beautiful girl :) |
Dark/Light I have a male (1yrs old) and he was very dark for the longest time. He started turning from a reddish brown on his face, chest, butt and legs to a blond color. The rest of him is still black except for his head, which turned a silvery blond. He looks distinguished and adorable!! My little girl is only 4 months, but I can see that when I get her first hair cut, she will be silver and blond with a dark reddish brown stripe down her back. She looks like she has black and brown dyed tips on her hair with silver and blond roots! Hilarious! You never know how they will turn out in a few months! I can't wait to get her cut this weekend, I know the new color will be too cute! Pics are in my album. |
That is a BIG change in a short period of time. Did you see her parents? Were they very light too? It does seem to be a genetic feature to pass on the fading of color, and breeders should work hard at reducing that affect in their lines. She is a sweet looking pup though. Just love her all the more. :) My first yorkie was not to standard either. I just spayed her & loved her with all my heart! She may not have been perfect, but she started me on a life that will NEVER be without a yorkie! |
That sure is a big difference but she sure is a sweetheart! I was so hoping my Jake would stay dark and he did....... Sometimes it can be a surprise how much the coat can change. |
What a sweetie. I am hoping Buster will stay dark. He still has a black back but I am seeing a dark blue grey in his shoulders and on his back legs so I think he will become a dark grey. I has been fascinating watching his colors change. I had not realized that Yorkies colors changed that much until I started learning here on YT. I have to agree with FLDebra once you go Yorkie you never go back. |
How cute! When I first started looking at Yorkies I fell in love with the lighter ones, yet I picked Teddy from the litter who was the darkest! After a month he's already getting lighter...I don't really care what color he is/turns out to be I think he's so handsome regardless!! |
I don't often see them get that light, when they are that dark to begin with. She is beautiful. |

We all love her just the way she is . Thanks for all the comments . I haven't been on much lately due to my daughter being pretty sick most of the fall. :( |
Wow, big change. She's a cutie both ways. |
I think mine changes everyday. Lol she is a beauty amazing how fast their color happens |
Hi, I'm new here. I remember when Sailor began to change color, it was exciting to see him change and grow. He has stayed pretty dark, but lightens up when his hair grows out. (I keep him in a puppy cut) I agree with the others that said once you go yorkie you Never go back! I'm obsessed with my baby boy! |
She is Beautiful. From looking at the most recent Picture, she looks like she has a silk coat. Slow growing but Beautiful when it grows out. She's a winner. :) |
She's a cutie. My 3 girls all stayed dark and I wish they had lightened up. I like the lighter color. I am sorry to hear your daughter has been sick. |
