Getting a new yorkie Puppy soon Hi Everyone, This is my first time here and I'd like to know if any of you have purchased or heard of "How to train your puppy fast track system" and what are your thoughts on his methods. Thanks, New Yorkie Mom-to-be on my birthday this month!!! |
Not familiar with that training method but thought I would stop by and say WELCOME to YT! Hope you enjoy this site as much as I do -- lots to learn, share, and make you smile! Big kudos for learning about your yorkie before he/she comes home with you. |
Never heard of it. In case you didn't already know, Yorkies are notoriously hard to potty train. As long as you're consistent, you expect reasonable goals, and you don't lose your temper, training can be done fairly easily. How exciting to add to your family! Welcome to yt. :) PS YT is your free resource to potty training. There are so many members with different lifestyles, and differing personalities for pups and their humans that we've all taken a slightly different approach to training. What worked for me may not work for you, but what member "X" did might. ;) |
Thanks so much for the welcomes. Happy New Year. Hope my little Yorkie, who has no name yet, will have many happy years together. I know I'm getting a female from my son & daughter as a birthday gift so I wanted to be prepared. Any advice from long-time yorkie owners would surely be a blessing. Happy New Year everyone! |

There are so many threads also, so you can try the search feature as well. If you don't find the answer there, ask FlDebra. She knows everything. :p |
How To Train My Puppy Fast Track System Is this what you are talking about? I couldn't say personally either way but it seems very marketed and I believing breed specific training-especially for certain breeds known fo their uh well needing breed specific training...beware of the generic Yorkie training manuals programs etc by so called experts that seem to also have authored training manuals for every other breed out there too... Considering you haven't gotten your baby yet...you are definitely on the right track and giving yourself plenty of time to learn...then again the best laid plans right...thus you can go running to your pc right back to YT and get a new game plan...it's all about what actually works for you and your dog having the basics down before you start are giving you such a major advantage! |
Don't know anything about the program, but did want to say hello and welcome. :) |

You haven't mentioned if you've owned a toy breed before; but if not the small dogs do have some special care needs, particularly as a young puppy. Small and young bones can be fragile, so don't allow your pup in the early days to jump off couches, you need to be aware and on the look out for hypoglycemia (it is mentioned in the article I referred to above), also the YTCA recommends no pup goes home before 12 wks old and or 2 lbs. I've not read the book you've asked about, but I think it's always a good idea once your pup has had all it's shots, to take it to basic puppy obedience classes, for socialization and for training. |
Welcome to YT! If this is your first Yorkie or toy dog, you are about to entire a new world. They really do become your "baby" and are sooo easy to spoil. Best of Luck! |
welcome am so excited for you! You will experience a true meaning of the word LOVE! |
Welcome to YT :welcome4: Yorkies are WONDERFUL!!! You will fall in love immediately! Can't wait to see pictures of your new little girl. Oh, and yes, an early happy birthday to you! :):) |
Thanks everyone!!! Thanks for all the comments. What a great group I've joined. I can't even begin to tell you how much help I need; from a name for her to how to crate train her, potty train her and how to be the best Mommy I can be to her. It's like waiting on a new baby without all those labor pains (HA!) I am sort of freaked about the possibilities I hear about hypoglycemia, heart problems with tiny pups and watching her very closely so that she doesn't break a limb or a bone. I'll be a nervous wreck. i have purchased everything from bows, sweaters, toys, collar & leash to carrier and crate complete with princess pink cratewear. I haven't bought food yet but the lady who raises them says she uses Science diet small puppy bites. I have a daytimer ready to go for her paperwork, shots, when to spay and about the microchip for her. Am I forgetting anything?? I guess my biggest concern is all I have ready about how difficult it is to potty train a tiny yorkie, so I welcome any and all advice. Thanks for listening and thanks for the welcome. I'll send pics when she gets here in a couple of weeks. Wish me luck. You're all great!!!!! CindyLouWho |

Yorkies are cheeky stubborn little monkies, have patience, be consistent with toilet training and any training at that. Are you training for outdoors or will you be indoor pee pads? I have not regretted getting my Teegy for a single second, I wish you as much enjoyment in your new Yorkie relationship as I get out of mine. |
Welcome to YT! I've heard of that system before but never really looked into what it was about. Good luck with your new puppy! :) |
