Scare of the day It seems my babies are just trying me every day in every way. First they both get sick, today they both got out, my fault, I opened the door to get my camera and the screen door was not shut as I thought it was and they were gone. I ran after them, calling them, but to no avail. DH got the car and by the time he got to them they were almost to the busy intersection at the end of the street. He asked Sadie if she wanted to go for a ride and she jumped right in but Scooter was having no part of it so DH stopped the car in the middle of the road to block traffic and helped me get Scooter. When we got home I put them in their x-pen and told them how bad they were. Scooter knew but Sadie did not understand. Now please just picture me, 47 years old, out of breath, having and asthma attack and running down the road yelling Scooter, Sadie want a treat, I was so scared that I was going to lose another one so I just said,,,,God I can not lose another one please help me get these babies and it wasnt two minutes later that we had both of them. I thank God for this. He answered my prayer. I do not understand them door darting, they have not done it in so long and now all of a sudden here we go again. Back to the training. I am so glad you and your DH were able to get them before anything happened. Scary |
I am very happy for you that your babies are back safe and sound! |
My suggestion is to put gates up to prevent them from getting out of the door and into the street. .. and sooner rather than later. The next time may not have a good outcome. |
A couple of years ago Buster darted out the door and headed for a busy intersection. By the time I caught him I was laying flat out on my stomach, almost like I tackled him. You know people had to be pointing and laughing at that. I don't care, I got him home without him being hurt. |

Training is great, and a must. However, gates are the only guarantee. |
Thank goodness you got them!!! Very scary when they get out. When Sammy was a baby, my younger son left the door open and Sammy got out and my neighbor's son found him and brought him home. We have gates up even now that he's older. |
OMgosh, my heart skipped a beat while reading....I know how very terrified you both must have been. So glad, you babies are back home, safe & sound. My front door is always locked and Zhoie knows it won't be opened until she is picked up. I did this from the time we brought her home. It's pretty cute she runs ahead to the door and does the yorkie dance waiting on me, lol. I actually lock the door even when I let someone in, I'm afraid the wind will blow it open or something. |
oh my goodness. How you must have worried yourself sick.. thankful everything is ok. |
I'm so glad your prayer was answered so swiftly. That was really scary! |
Glad your scare had a happy outcome! Little stinkers!;) |
I agree with others, definitely get a gate. Safety for them, peace of mind for you. |

My two listen most of the time, but if I need to get them right away...or keep them from going to an un safe part of the yard...I run the opposite direction and say "Let's Go!!!!" they always run after me as if they're saying "Wait for us" |
