Keep your friends inside on New Years Eve! So many pets get lost on January 1st & July 4th due to the fireworks. They are easily spooked by the noise & lights. Don't risk losing your best friends, please keep your 4 legged kids inside tonight if at all possible. I know I'm stating the obvious, but I see it happen year after year :( |
Can't ever be too careful! Have a Happy New Year!! :D |
Thank you for the reminder. My best friend is sleeping in my lap! |
No worry here. It's 18 degrees out there. |
I totally agree! Tess and I are bringing in the new year quietly and deliciously together! She is also afraid of fireworks and they are going off again tonight. Happy New Year! |
Good advice. My poor little ones are nervous right now. I have to keep reassuring them as firecrackers are being set off nearby. They really do not like that! |
Good reminder! Around here, it's too cold to be outside, but I've heard of it happening many times where dogs get spooked and take off running. |
Cold here too but fireworks is not something usual on New Years eve, unless you are at the city center or something. |
Great reminder, thanks. My city of 300,000, in all its wisdom, decided to make fireworks legal between 9:30 p.m. and 1 a.m. this year. And not just sparklers and snakes. We're talking firecrackers, bottle rockets, even huge exploding displays. It was horrible. Neighborhood after neighborhood, it sounded like a war zone from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. And I expect more tonight. It's always been bad on New Year's because it's really our only opportunity of the year to shoot them off with any effect -- it's light at midnight on July 4th in Alaska. And they're legal for sale in a more rural community 40 minutes away, so people make the drive and load up. Fortunately, only one of my three has issues with noise, and Eddie made it through it. He shook and hid, refused food and water, but when the last one popped around 2 a.m., he was fine after that. |
OH, I see what you were saying now, Mike! Wow, your town is weird. Who allows home fireworks anymore? I took Thor with me to a fireworks display last night because I knew he was going to be scared no matter what, and I wanted him with me. He was stressed, but not terrified. |

Cool, as long as Thor could tolerate it, it was probably a great experience to bring him along. Eddie would have a heart attack at a display like that. :( |

It is a HUGE deal hear for people to set of fireworks during July. There are fireworks stands every few miles during end of June- July. |

Last night was strangely quiet though. I expected to hear a lot more than I did. |
